Le Marais/ Paris tour is to discover the secrets of one of the most exciting old area of the city.
You explore the beauty of French architecture of the aristocracy and royalty of France, waking in the narrow streets, along typical ‘Hotel Particuliers’- French urban ‘mansion’.
You admire the unique in Europe ‘Place de Vosges’ former ‘Place Royale’, where French writer, Victor Hugo lived and wrote the romantic novel ’Notre-Dame de Paris’ and the modern art galleries around it.
You walk along perfume and vintage shops, so appreciated by both Parisians and the travelers and small local food shops and French cafes and terraces.
My itinerary leads you to off – touristy spots, court- yards and gardens, to the Jewish district, with its typical food stores and refined kosher pastry.
Next to it, the lively LGBT district is to be visited especially for its cafés, bars and cool boutiques (optional).
Feel the awesome vibes of old and new in good harmony in Le Marais/ Paris.

Jill was our tour guide of the Le Marais Paris district. It was an an excellent, informative walking tour. Jill started off by asking us why we were taking this tour and what we were interested in and then she proceeded to show us all of that and more! She gave us the history of Le Marais from the Roman conquered Paris, when the Jewish settlers started to arrive and their life here, the French Revolution, and then the dark times of the Nazi occupation. She took us to secret courtyards. We saw buildings that were hundreds of years old. It was fascinating and we appreciate her

We did a tour with Sophia of the Marais District and Jewish Quarter and absolutely loved her, the tour and this part of Paris. We saw how interesting and beautiful the district was, how interesting its history and current status was, and loved its little remaining Jewish Quarter too. In fact we stayed in the Marais District for the first time and loved the neighborhood so much we will return to it for our next stay too.

She also included the LGBTQ history in this trendy and upbeat area. My husband, who is in historian, and Iwould highly recommend this walking tour to anyone interested in Jewish history Le Marais (which is what we asked for) and there was so much more! We loved learning about the vibrant Le Marais community!

If you are truly interested in a deeper understanding of a Paris district you must walk with a local who has studied its history and has a desire to share. We recommend Jill from Paris Always Walking Cultural tours. We had the pleasure of spending a fabulous morning in Le Marais where Jill brought us back in time and to present life . We were interested in the history and culture-life now and then and what shaped present day. We were delighted-Jill shared experiences and tips and some of her personal favourites. She tailored the information to our specific interests and personal preferences. We went off the beaten path and saw small details and hidden areas that brought life and added colour to this fantastic district.

Interstate, vibrant neighborhood dating back to Paris medieval times. Something a little off the standard tourist path. We had a great morning with our guide Jill Andrei, who knew the area and it's history in depth.
