5.00This was an informative tour with history provided by a passionate local. The pace was easy, with plenty of time to rest and look around. Please note: the walk took us up a block of stairs; not the Montagne de Bueren, but smaller ones next to them, about half as much.

5.00Wonderful town with many places and monuments to visit. Well-kept and hospitable. Montagne de Bueren, 4000 Liège, Belgium climb steps so steep that you feel like climbing a mountain: the nineteenth-century Montagne de Bueren staircase is one of the wonders and tortures of Liège. You can sweeten the climb by stopping occasionally to explore the alleys. At the top you will be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view. Another wonder is the magnificent Cathedral of St. Paul and the futuristic recent train station by Calatrava. Here is also the birthplace of Simenon (the writer of Commissioner Maigret) and nearby is his statue on a bench.
