The tour gives you a glimpse of the cultural life and spirituality of Nepal in general. Walk through the medieval town designed with principles of Vastu Sastra (science of architecture) and see the imprints of historical incidents in the architecture and culture.
Visit Lalitpur (Patan), the city of fine art and find out why it is known as one of the oldest existing Buddhist cities in the world.
Watch the Hindu ways of life from Karma (deeds) to Bhakti (devotion) at the temple complex of Pashupatinath. Learn about Hindu ascetics (Sadhu) and the philosophy behind cremation and reincarnation. Dishaphore the metaphoric Tantric erotism behind the cosmic consciousness, that is Shiva.
Feel the 'Little Tibet in Kathmandu' at Boudhanath Stupa. Learn about Tibet and Himalayan lifestyle and feel the positive vibration with hundreds of pilgrims chanting 'Om Mani Padme Hum'.
It will be egoistic to say that we know. But we guarantee the experience is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Kathmandu Durbar Square
The tour starts with walking through old Kathmandu discovering the hidden courtyards that exhibit medieval spiritual and cultural practices. Witness the Vastu architecture and imprints of important historical incidents on the life and spirituality of people along the important trans-Himalayan trading route. Learn about Gurkhas and Hippies. Discover the lifestyle and spiritual practices that remained aloof from the invasion and unrest its neighbors went through.
Patan Durbar Square
Drive to Patan or Lalitpur, the city of fine art. The name aptly fits its identity as the art and craft from Patan made it to India, Tibet and China during the medieval time. Majority of people in Patan still are artisans and devout Buddhists claiming to be descendants of Buddha. Over 150 active ancient and medieval monasteries are evidence of Patan being the oldest existing Buddhist city. Walk through the monastic city and visit some of the exquisite monasteries dating back to the 8th century.

The tour was top quality in terms of itinerary, guide and shared information. My guide, Indra, was extremely knowledgeable of the history and spirituality of Nepal. His command of English was excellent, and the itinerary was flexible to accommodate my interests. Without hesitation, I can say that Indra was the best guide I could have had to learn about Nepal. I fully recommend this tour and especially my guide for an unforgettable experience for anyone passionate about history and spirituality.

I enjoyed this tour with Indra very much, as I was intrigued by his knowledge of the Buddhist and Hindu culture and sacred sites we visited. I appreciate the philosophy teachings and eating at a delicious vegan restaurant for lunch, as I requested.

I went on multiple amazing day trips in Kathmandu valley, but this was my favorite. Seeing multiple major sites through the lens of daily life and the Nepali people’s inclusive approach to spirituality, enhanced my understanding of the sites and what the sites mean to the people living nearby. My guide, Sandesh, was terrific — his knowledge, experience, and insight made this tour enlightening, enjoyable, and a highlight of my trip. In the days after the tour, I found myself reflecting on what I had learned on the tour and shared some of it with others I met. If you are interested in a deeper understanding of life and spirituality in Nepal, I wholeheartedly recommend this tour and Sandesh as an outstanding guide!

I recently had the privilege of taking the “Life and Spirituality in Kathmandu” private day tour with Sandesh, and it was truly one of the most meaningful travel experiences I’ve ever had. As a solo traveler, I deeply appreciated how warm, insightful, and attentive Sandesh was from the very beginning. His deep respect for local traditions and the way he weaved spirituality into each stop made the experience incredibly enriching. He was also very open to questions and tailored the pace to my interests, allowing time for reflection and genuine conversation. This wasn’t just sightseeing — it was a personal journey into the soul of Kathmandu, guided with care and authenticity. I came away not only with beautiful memories and photos, but with a deeper understanding of the culture and people. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for more than just the typical tourist experience. And if you have the chance to go with Sandesh, consider yourself very lucky.

I had a great time exploring around Kathmandu through iTourNepal. The activities they organized were very exclusive and full of local experiences. First of all, a day tour around the UNESCO heritage sites was truly a great introduction to Nepal's rich culture and spiritual practices. We went to Patan, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath, and each of them was a relaxed, hidden cultural and spiritual gem in the hide of a bustling city. After a couple of days exploring Kathmandu, we went on a hike from Nagarkot to Changunarayan. The view of the lush valley and verdant layers of mountains was brilliant. The walk was pleasant and a great warm-up before going on a big trek. I liked observing the self-sufficient villages with charming people and their daily chores. Terraces glistening with crops and a garden with all kinds of vegetables and fruits. This is the best way of escaping the city and connecting with nature. After a hike, we went to Namobuddha, and iTourNepal organized a stay in the monastery. The monastery is located at the pristine hilltop overlooking the sweeping valley and the Himalayas. The tranquility and spiritual vibe of the place were rejuvenating and were a great spiritual retreat. Wake up to the sounds of Buddhist prayers and the gentle morning light was something I will always cherish. Overall, the experience of medieval cities, the beautiful hike, and the spiritual experience made my trip one of the best I've ever had. If you are looking for an adventure that balances nature and culture with local experiences, I highly recommend Rabi at iTourNepal.
