Join us for a River Explorer Cruise aboard our world-famous Mersey Ferry. For just under an hour, you can sit back, relax and soak in the riverside scenery and landmarks that have put Liverpool on the map.
Our expert digital commentary will make you feel right at home as you discover the things that make our city region so vibrant today. The cruise is a 'must do' as part of any visit to Liverpool.
Simply scan the QR code located at each ferry terminal or onboard the Mersey Ferry to access it.
If you don’t have a smartphone, you can request a printed cruise route fact sheet from our team at the ferry terminal which is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Ukraine and Arabic.
Your ticket is valid at any time during the day that you have booked. The cruises depart every hour on the hour from Liverpool Pier Head Gerry Marsden Terminal (just arrive at least 20mins prior to departure to redeem your voucher)

Voucher is valid for anytime on day of travel - The Cruise departs on the hour every hour from Liverpool Pier Head. Just arrive at least 20 minutes beforehand to redeem your voucher as the ferry leaves on the hour. Please check Mersey Ferries website for up to date departures and notices.

From 26 February 2026, MERSEY FERRIES be offering a free digital audio guide as part of a one-month trial. Simply scan the QR code located at each ferry terminal or onboard the Mersey Ferry to access it. During this trial period, the commentary will not play through the external speaker system. 3.00Bought tickets from the office as a bit of a last minute decision. Had a trip on the tour, which was fairly informative using the qr code to provide a commentary on my phone. Staff were ok, didn't really need to communicate much, the ship itself is in desperate need of a paint, and the toilets were unpleasant in all honesty. Not something I'd rush to do again, but was ok for what it was.

2.00Please bring back the tanoy commentary, who on earth thought it was a good idea to have to scan a code and bring your headphones to hear the guide ????? Tried twice to load it but couldn't hear it above the ferry noise and it kept repeating the same piece, very frustrating & gave up. Without the usual tape playing it was pretty boring, no atmosphère and i had to try and remember as much as i could to explain to my friend who was visiting from the usa. ...how on earth are older people meant to scan codes and bring headphones? I dont own any!... It would be like going on the magical mystery tour without the guide. Pointless A waste of money

3.00It's an OK cruise down the river for 50 mins.Boat is a bit run down and rusty.Staff are all pleasant. Cappuccino is really good from bar though.

5.00Me and my wife take the Mersey River Cruise and we enjoy very much. We are older people but sit was comfortable and no hard for us. Boat go slow on River Mersey and we see many nice buildings. Wind was little cold but view make us forget. They tell story about Liverpool and old times, very interesting. Staff on boat was kind and help us find good seat. Fifty minute go fast because we look everywhere

5.00I arranged in advance to scatter my late husband's ashes from the ferry. They were absolutely wonderful with me & my friend. A member of the crew led me out to a private area at the back of the boat where they had put out a couple of chairs. The captain slowed almost to a standstill so I could safely scatter the ashes and, when it was done, he blasted the horn as a mark of respect. On top of that we had a lovely sail around the river with wonderful views of the waterfront. I couldn't have asked for more. Well done Mersey Ferries 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

5.00It was a windy day, but very much worth it. Sailing through the harbour, listening to the commentary about the surrounding area, and reading the onboard information signs. There is clearly so much learn about Liverpool as a city. Either sit inside or outside on deck. It takes about 50 minutes- sails evey hour and you can either pre-book or get tickets on the door.

4.00I thought the commentary interesting and informative. Picked up lots of info that I previously didn’t know. The Mersey is such a majestic river and has presided over the city’s trials and triumphs. Really enjoyed the ferry excursion.
Nice little ferry, great views. I love the Liver Building.
