What To Expect

1

St. Andrew’s Cathedral, also known as Inverness Cathedral, is our next destination - a beautiful cathedral church dating back to 1869 located near the centre of Inverness. The Anglican Cathedral is the most northerly in the UK, and is an excellent example of local architecture and the Gothic style. Take some time to admire the beautiful stained glass windows and intricately carved stonework. Inverness Cathedral is a cathedral of the Scottish Episcopal Church close to the banks of the River Ness. then on to cawdor castle 30 min drive

Ness Islands

The River Ness is the river that runs from the northern end of Loch Ness, through Loch Dochfour and through the heart of the City of Inverness – in fact the river is where Inverness gets it’s name, not from the famous Loch Ness as many think, but from the Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Nis, meaning “Mouth of the River Ness”. According to the legend the first-ever claimed sighting of the Loch Ness monster wasn’t in Loch Ness, but the River Ness; when Saint Columba is said to have banished a “water monster” back into the river after it tried to attack one of his disciples who was swimming across. The river is a draw to visitors – many buildings sit attractively on its banks, including St. Andrew’s Cathedral (Inverness Cathedral), Eden Court Theatre and a number of popular restaurants and hotels. Nature-lovers should keep an eye out for common and grey seals, a number of bat species, and birds such as dippers, goosander and the occasional osprey. and then on to loch ness 15 min drive

We had one of our best Scotland experiences with William as our guide. He was a font of historical information and great at improvising when one of the sites had to close because of a water problem. I can’t give it enough stars.

  • Great personalized tour of the Inverness area.

This tour was excellent! Our guide, Jim, was fun and informative and provided great commentary for all of the places we visited. Jim tailored the day's itinerary based on our interests, and the result was perfect. While the cost of this tour was more than others we could have selected, this was a private tour in a private car with just the two of us and we were very pleased with our choice. Recommend!!!

This was the best day we have ever had as a family! My husband and I are traveling with our nearly 3 year old daughter and can’t put in to words how special our full day tour was. Mike was not only super knowledgeable and very friendly, he was also so patient with our little one and went above and beyond to make the trip special for her as well. The van was spacious and clean, the journey about Inverness and the surrounding area was beautiful and the tour stops were unbelievable. This was just the most beautiful, wonderful day. Thank you, Mike!!!

Mike was excellent! We learned so much about Highland history. He ensured we had ample time at every stop so we did not feel rushed anywhere. He also added in a few extra bonus stops (we loved the Highland coo) that we were not expecting. We left a small magnet from the highland coo farm in Mike’s van, he took the time to bring it to our hotel the next day and ensure it made it back to us. Absolutely would recommend him to anyone!

This was an amazing trip! Stuart was very informative, and explained the history and events of the area. We visited Colloden, Clara Cairns, Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness and a few extras. The lunch, and local places He showed us really made us feel as if we were more than simply tourists. Highly recommend this tour!
