Chateau de Chambord
From Paris, you’ll head first to Chambord Castle. Disney fans will find this castle’s turrets familiar; it was the inspiration for the castle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Though originally conceived as a royal hunting lodge, it was built to a scale that must be seen to be believed. You’ll learn all about the castle’s captivating history from your guide, before getting your own chance to explore. Climb a staircase supposedly designed by Da Vinci; enjoy spectacular turret-framed rooftop views; glimpse wild deer around the grounds; and work up an appetite for the next stop.

The castles were amazing!! It was truly great to have the opportunity to see them along with the beautiful countryside. The tour guide James talked way too much and some of his comments were inappropriate. His stories could have been good if he used voice inflection when talking but instead he was very monotone. I also feel it’s inappropriate to ask the female guests to pose for pictures that he is taking when inside the castles and not as group photos. The castles were great! I am giving a 3 star because of the tour guide, James.

James is deeply knowledgeable about French history. Very informative and helpful. The Chateau’s are beautiful and very interesting. It is a long tour with a lot of driving. We only had 2 days in Paris (our first trip to France), so I felt like I may have been better off staying in Paris to see more sights. Worth it if you have the time.

We had an excellent day visiting Chambourd and Chenonceau castles, with a lovely stop in the quaint little French town Blois. Our guide John, was very knowledgeable and kept everything in order. Very top-notch.

This was one of the most educational and enjoyable tours we have taken. The tours were very paced, and we were given sufficient time to enjoy the self-guided tours. The tour guide provided in-depth history of the region in an entertaining, friendly demeanor. The architecture of both castles was breathtaking, and both the interiors and grounds were stunning. The audio tours were easy to follow, engaging, and rich with historical details about each room, its furnishings, and the artwork on display. The wine tasting also offered helpful background on the winery’s origins and the grape varieties used to make its wines. Overall, this was an excellent day trip from Paris that we would happily take again.

Fantastic day trip from Paris. Our visit to Chambord, Blois, and Chenonceau was a joy. The chateau region is massive, and one could easily spend a few days there. These three spots were just perfect to highlight the best of the area and John gave us an excellent primer on the history of the places to make the day. Very happy to recommend this tour to anyone visiting Paris and wanting to branch out for a day.
