Discover Mechelen, Belgium’s hidden medieval gem, on a three-hour walking tour through its historic streets, secret courtyards, and UNESCO-protected sites.
Starting at Saint Rumbold’s Cathedral, see its unfinished tower, once intended as the world’s tallest. Explore Margaret of Austria’s Renaissance legacy, the tranquil Begijnhofs, and the restored Rik Wouters Garden.
Visit Kazerne Dossin, a WWII memorial, and end at De Zalm, an ornate guild house. Highlights include 49-bell carillon concerts, hidden religious refuges, Gouden Carolus beer from a 14th-century brewery, and quirky sites like the Devil’s House and the Adam and Eve House.
Mechelen blends rich history, vibrant design, and quiet charm—offering more protected monuments than Bruges, but far fewer tourists.

This self guided tour was a really fun way to explore the beautiful city of Mechelen. The information was quite interesting, and the directions were clear and easy to follow.

This was my first experience with an audio guide tour. I normally do free walking tours when I travel but the city I just went to does not have one so I downloaded this one. This thing was way better than I expected. Like now I just want to do this guy's tours all over! In the very beginning, I got a little turned around, but it was because I wasn't paying attention to the direction cues. Once I got the hang of it, it was wonderful. He goes just enough into history without it being boring, the way he explains things made me want to research and go deeper on my own time.
