Longmen Grottoes
The Stone Gallery Walk - Stroll along the Yi River to admire over 130,000 Buddhist carvings chiseled into 1km of limestone cliffs over 5 dynasties. The Smiling Colossus - Stand beneath the 17m-tall Vairocana Buddha (AD 675), whose cosmic smile changes with sunlight angles. Healing Buddha Shrine - Find the rare Northern Wei-era Medicine Buddha showing ancient herbal remedies in its pedestal carvings. Xiangshan Temple (river island) - Climb to the "Dragon View Pavilion" for the only spot capturing all 3 grotto zones in one photo. Opening Hours: 08:00-21:00; Last entry: 20:00
