What To Expect
Cusco & Machu Picchu Railway
This exciting day starts with your private guide and driver picking you up early in the morning in the lobby of your Cusco hotel or the Sacred Valley. You will then enjoy a beautiful 2 hour drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas with a great view of the Urubamba Mountain range until you arrive to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Here You will board the famous Vistadome or Expedition train, departing early in the morning, which will take you to the scenic and quaint little town of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The train ride is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Along the way, the breathtaking scenery will take you past many farming terraces used by the ancient Inca people, current local farming communities and all of this as you wind down into the valley, with the beautiful Urubamba river running beside you. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will board the shuttle bus that will take us to the magical mountain citadel of Machu Picchu. You will then enjoy a 2 - 3 hour tour with your professional, knowledgeable, English speaking guide. He will show you all the most important sites, then allow you to explore some on your own, if you like. Afterwards, you will return by shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes, enjoy some free time to have lunch on your own before returning to the train station and return to Ollantaytambo to meet your driver, who will be waiting for you. You will then be transported back to your hotel in Cusco.

5.00The Machu Picchu tour was a dream come true! The whole experience was seamless, from the well-organized itinerary to the passionate guides who made history come alive. Machu Picchu itself was like stepping into another world, with ancient ruins against stunning landscapes. The focus on preserving the site and being eco-friendly was great to see. From the trail to the Sun Gate, every moment was awe-inspiring. If you're up for a unique adventure that's a perfect mix of culture and nature, I highly recommend this tour. It's something I'll cherish forever!

5.00FANTASTIC!!! From start to finish! Amazing Andean Adventures was in charge for our entire 8 day trip to Peru. Every detail and pick up was perfect. Every driver and guide was great! Thank you Kivin and Joaquin for finding my camera! There was one special guide that we will never forget. Dany met us at our hotel in Agnes Calientes and was very patient as our train was late arriving. His knowledge of the history and culture of the Incans made the tour of Machu Picchu come alive! We were fortunate to have Dany for two days, always upbeat, helpful, fun, and competent. The Cusco City Tour was also amazing with the continuing history making us feel like we were actually there in the time of the Inca rule. Magical. Amazing Andean Adventures continued to take us to Lake Titicaca and to see the condors in Colca Canyon. Again, lots of great information by knowledgeable and helpful guides. Juan, thank you for calling personally and taking charge of my left behind camera! Very grateful for the lifetime of great memories your team provided!

5.00We used Amazing Andean Adventures for 2 trips during our recent trip to Peru, the first was to Machu Picchu, our tickets and documents were waiting at our hotel in Ollantaytambo, our guide was at the station in Augas Calientes and the whole experience was seamless, stress free and the communication from the company through email and WhatsApp was very responsive and professional. Our guide was very knowledgable and the experience was amazing We also used the company to go on a rafting trip from Cusco. Again all communication was faultless with a great introductory talk the evening before in our hotel. The rafting was one of the best activities we have done, helped by our amazing guide who kept us safe whilst ensuring we had fun. After rafting a tent was put up and we had a lovely picnic by the riverside which topped off a great day out Thanks Amazing Andean Adventures and I can not recommend this company highly enough

5.00Seeing Machu Picchu is so much more amazing in person! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable regarding its history and the culture. We were in awe being there and taking in the sights. Machu Picchu and many other sites in Peru should be on everyone's bucket list!

5.00My husband and I travelled with our two children ages 15 and 16 and none of us were accustomed to hiking. While the usual bickering/teasing and complaining was expected from our teens I have to say Juan handled all of it beautifully. He was a able to often redirect the kids helping all of us enjoy each days tour experience. We hiked Sacred Valley at 14k feet and although it was incredibly challenging my 16 yr old daughter turned to me in the middle and said, "Mom I think I really like hiking!" I looked up at the heavens to thank the all mighty. : ) Juan made each step enlightening and fun. At one point completely unexpected in a glorious spot along the trail, Juan pulled out a flute (traditional of old Inca days) and filled the air with a delightful melody while we forged ahead. We not only conquered the trail but we had the adventure of our lives. We visited locations off the beaten path and experienced the Andes people in beautiful remote villages. He made sure we covered all of the most important places and explained the history so our children could understand and appreciate this amazing place. We also hiked Machu Picchu a few days later. We were always prepared in advance of how to dress and what to bring to add to our comfort. Great Memories, Great Guide.
