Magic Dolphin Eco is the only purpose built dolphin & whale watching catamaran in Madeira Island with hybrid-electric engines. It was specially developed to assure our passengers a safe, comfortable and exceptional tour. Its hybrid-electric engines reduce noise and emissions making it the best experience not only for our guests, but also for our beloved cetaceans!
There are two levels for the best viewing, four trampoline nets located at the bow of the boat, two bathrooms and two bars where you can purchase drinks and snacks.
Our crew of certified guides are there to ensure everyone the best possible experience. They share their knowledge about the species we encounter, the history of Madeira and the local highlights.

What To Expect
Cruise on our 2022 purpose-built Eco-friendly catamaran and enjoy a comfortable tour along the southern coast of Madeira Island. Our spotters on land use binoculars to find the animals and direct the boat right to them. When sea life arrives our hybrid-electric engines engage for silent emission free cruising which helps keep the cetaceans very happy! Our certified guides will provide you with informative commentary and fun facts about the cetaceans and different species that you may see. On our way back, we sail close to the coast passing by many points of interest that may include: • Cabo Girão - the 2nd highest sea cliff in the world (time permitting you can go for a quick swim) • Camara de Lobos Bay – a traditional fishing village • World famous Reid’s Hotel where Winston Churchill and high profile celebs stayed during visits to Madeira Island • Enjoy views of our paradise island in comfort and style

5.00We were not sure what to expect of this excursion but it was great. We both suffer from motion sickness so we took some travel sickness tablets beforehand. We saw whales and dolphins. Overall an excellent excursion.

5.00We saw plenty of pilot whales and they were very close to the boat, we were given plenty of time to see them and take photos. I felt the cost of the trip was very reasonable. I would recommend getting there early to get a good seat. It was a grey cloudy day when we did it but I expect it’s probably even nicer on a sunny day. The staff were very friendly and informative. I would recommend it as a relaxed, informative and affordable trip :)

5.00The crew were knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The weather was calm and we had a good 20-30 minutes to take our photos. If you suffer with sea sickness, be warned, the return trip can be a bit choppy.

5.00We were traveling for almost 3 hours and could see a group of pilot whales. You have to be aware that there is no guarantee of a certain way of seeing or seeing anything at all. However, Madeira probably offers the highest chances. All in all very positive and the drinks on bord were also very good with 2€ for a Pepsi. On the way back you get some information about the east coast behind Funchal. All in all very positive and as nature friendly as possible.

5.00We were recommended this trip by our hotel, weren’t sure what to expect, mainly due to the name of the company. The crew were really helpful, gave us a lot of information about the whales and the conservation of their environment. The boat wasn’t crowded so the whales were easily seen when they surfaced. They are limited to how long they can stay in the area for the benefit of the whales and unlike another company at the time of our trip, adhered to it. Great views of Funchal and the coast, take a jacket!

3.00Too many people on the boat. Was like herding cattle. There was no control on the people for rudeness, bags falling everwhere and falling people on others. There is this hurry up and wait mentality when they wanted us to wait in line 15 min before start. But then they were late to open the gate.

5.00We had an amazing experience on 20/11/25. The staff were very knowledgeable about the marine life and took a lot of trouble to make sure the whole experience was a fulfilling one. So lucky to see as many different species of whales including g the rare sighting of false killer whales a couple of which swam under the boat! On board toilets and bar and snack facility. Easy access to the boat and easy to find. A big Thankyou to all the staff that day from the friendly pair who sold us the tickets to the captain and crew .
