What To Expect
Santana
From Funchal towards the highest mountais we allways have funchal scenery behind us, soon we arrive at the third highest mountain in Pico do Areeiro at 1818m altitude with stuning views and landscapes. After we will start our discent to Santana trougth ribeiro frio and cruzinhas, where we will see the beauty of our indigenous Laurissilva Forest was classified as UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in December 1999. Once we get to Santana we will show you the houses that keeps the original characteristics of Santana, a thatched roof and of course stoping for a lunch, after the lunch we come our way back by the eastern coast where you will be introduced once more to breathtaking views, stopping at last at the eastern point of Madeira, Ponta de São Loureço.
Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools
Starting from Funchal trought Câmara de Lobos, on our way to Ribeira Brava we are going to travel trougth the old roads, in the morning we start in the southwestern coast , and have a stop for a drink, after we will continue our way up until the plateau to 1500m altitude were we will be above the clouds like in the aircraft :). After crossing on the plateau Paúl da Serra all the way to Porto Moniz will be in off-road! Here we are going to stop for Lunch and take a bath in the natural vulcanic swiming pools. After our lunch we will drive along the northen coast villages and our guides will showcasing amazing sea cliffs with lush vegetation, amog them you will see some of the best waterfalls on the island.

5.00Miguel was absolutely amazing. He knows his stuff and a very safe driver. Our adventure started with a pick up from our cruise ship. Whe drove to the West coast of madeira for our tour. We stopped a at a very tradicional coffee with a very nice view shop for a short break before Miguel took us on a off road adventure, all the way up to Fanal where we visited the world heritage forest. From there we made our way to Porto Moniz for a stop at the natural swimming pools. After, we made a luch stop at a beautiful and delicious restaurant before making our way back to the ship in Funchal. I can't recommend this tour enough. The best part, it's off the beaten track. In the restaurant Miguel took us, we where the only tourists. In Madeira that translates to better food and prices. Thank you very much to Miguel, you made our day in Madeira unforgettable.
Would book Miguel and Madeira Off-Road again!

5.00Miguel was a very informative, warm and friendly guide for our day exploring from Funchal to Sao Vicente to Porto Moniz and back. We stopped many times for views, ask questions, grab a cafe or poncha, and learn history passed down from his Madeiran grandparents and family. I recommend Miguel without hesitation - you'll be in great hands.

5.00AMAZING TOUR!!!!! Celse was an excellent guide, he went above and beyond to show us everything Madeira had to offer, secret roads, exotic fruits and animals. We had the best local poncha and espetada in the mountains. My family and kids loved every moment of it, we learned so much and laughed till we cried. I highly recommend the tour and will definitely do it again next year.

We travelled to the west side of the island across the mountains, through beautiful forests and stopped at some breath taking viewpoints. I would definitely recommend this excursion to anyone who wants to truly get to know Madeira, both on and off road!! Big thank you!!

5.00Wow what an amazing day we had with John and Off road tours. John arrived more or less bang on time to pick us up from our hotel and started by giving us an overview of the plan for the day. Then we were off and enjoying the sights of the west of the island. We started at a viewpoint before Cabo girao then whizzed past it to ponto do sol to look back at it and enjoy a cup of coffee. After that it was up the old roads to the central plateau and the laurel woods (a crazy busy tourist hotspot), then we dropped down off road and on the old roads to get to Porto moniz for a great lunch and a swim in the natural pools. The way back skirted Seixal to the popular viewpoint and cafe shop by the bridal veil falls before taking the tunnel through the centre to get back to Funchal. Throughout John shared his passion and love of the island, plenty of stops for photos, lots of little surprises and making the best use of his 4x4. If you want to avoid the most touristy spots then we completely recommend this group. Thank you for a brilliant day.
