Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

This tour was amazing. The tour guide was so kind and informative. We didn’t know much about the royal family of Spain, but left full of knowledge. Will highly recommend!

Beatriz was an excellent guide. Besides knowing everything anyone could want to know about the palace and the rooms we visited, she outdid most guides we've had by being entertaining as well. We were about 25 people on the tour and she would choose one or two at random throughout the tour to role play the various kings and their wives and children pertinent to each room, statue, whatever, to make the information she was sharing more fun and memorable. Highly reccommended!!

Great run through the Royal Palace today with Jose as our guide. He kept a good pace whilst allowing time for photos and questions. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Spain, the Royal dynasties of Europe and the life and times of the former residents of the Palace.

The tout was excellent. There's so much historical context needed and our guide gets a 100% on that. Tour pace was just right. While unavailable, the competing visitors made it a bit tight but what's new when you tour such a gem. Highly recommend.
