Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

We had an amazing tour to the Royal Palace. Enrique was our extremely articulate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and amusing guide! Great anecdotes, smart, thoughtful and enthusiastic about Spanish history - gave us a great understanding and overview. I am from the US, so this was very helpful. Without Enrique we would have gotten so much less from our tour - the money was well spent. He also handled the crowds very well and was warm and wonderful to all of his guests. I highly recommend!

We had great tour guide named Beatriz. She is a former history teacher and was so knowledgeable and kept the tour very lively and fun and interactive by using the men in our group as the kings. She told a lot of stories and was funny as well. You will be lucky to get her as your guide! She was really great!! Thank you Beatriz!!

Unfortunately, we made a mistake and booked the wrong date for our tour. While the tour guide tried to help us, he had a full tour and the one afterwards was full too. We contacted the customer service, as we had a flight to catch in the afternoon and therefore we would not be able to go the next day. However, they could not get us into a tour, they were not able to refund us and they would not offer any credit towards a future tour! I lost 152€! In the end, we had to wait in line and buy an audio guide tour, so we paid another €100+euros. Very disappointed with this tour company. Additionally, we had a tour the previous day and it was very nice. I had left a kind review and decided to book this other tour with them. Now I’m left with anger, as they were not able to help me in anyway with the mix up of the dates and took my money with zero compensation of any kind. Therefore, be careful with the dates when reserving!

Great tour of the palace and just the right of time. Our guide Enrique was fabulous. He was passionate and well informed of all historical elements related to the tour. Would highly recommend. This has been our second booking with viator and will definitely repeat.

Enrique was not just amazing and interesting, but also funny, told us a lot of stories and his knowledge about the history and architecture is incredible. It was the icing on the cake that he is a charming man😉. It was our best decision to finish our Madrid tour with this experience.

I am not rating the actual guided tour as we didn’t make it but I’d like to leave a feedback and suggestion for improvement. I booked this tour to go and see with my son, on a date it was pouring down with rain and i txt (12:50, tour was booked for 13:01) on WhatsApp number telling our guide that we will be running a bit late and if we can meet up at the entrance of the Royal Palace but heard nothing, both of my messages were ignored, i couldn’t call the number either from WhatsApp ( not sure why) only txt which felt like went to nowhere. I take full responsibility for not being 15 min before the actual tour at the pick up point ( souvenir shop) but didn’t appreciate being completely ignored. It would have helped to get at least acknowledgement and in future to have a contact number that someone will actually respond to.

We found the meet point easily, pre info was great. Enrique introduced himself and once everyone arrived we headed to the palace. Skip the line was brilliant, jumping through the group tour entrance and past the very long ticket queue. Once inside, Enriquez did a fantastic job of giving a potted history to the palace and the Spanish royal family. Plenty of time for photos and questions. A great way to see the palace and post tour you can stay for longer if you would like! Highly recommend and great value for money!
