Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

Our guide was Elaina and she was excellent! She spoke English well and her story telling was outstanding. We’ve been in Europe for a month and this was the best tour we’ve experienced! Loved our tour of the Royal Palace!

The tour was amazing. It started right on time. Five stars to our guide Enrique who explained everything in perfect way. Its not easy to explain history for 2 hours without audience getting bored but he did it perfectly and kept us all engaged.

We had a most educational and ‘entertaining’ visit at the Royal Palace, because of our guide Mr Enrique. He selected 26 rooms for the two hours tour. Most enjoyable. We learnt much about the history of Spain and the royal family too.

We had a great time visiting the Royal Palace in Madrid. Enrique was a professional and humorous guide. We learnt much about the history of Spain royal family and the palace in the 2 hours tour. The tour came with an ear-piece which was great. We could hear Enrique clearly.

Convenient amd precise! Skipped the line, then got led expertly around the palace on a group of about 20 as we listened to the tour guide through the earpiece we were given so we could wander closely to take in all the details and still listen to our guide walking room by room.

What a shame. Such beautiful palace and history underserved by a poor tour guide. She just kept moving and talking without waiting for those of us still in the room behind, not able to follow closely because of the crowd. By the time we got to the room she's just showed, we've lost her again to the next room. This happened for the entire tour; the worst tour guide we've experienced with Viator. She also doesn't seem to be knowledgeable as she kept saying "I will talk about it later" to questions asked but never did.

Very knowledgeable tour guide. Got to see quite a bit of rooms inside the palace and learn the history behind them. Great experience overall.

Excellent tour only 2 very slight points to raise for the benefit of other people. Ensure you check the meeting point it’s a small distance from the palace . The guide is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic , he spoke very quickly which can be hard to follow and I felt you could just do with about 10-15 seconds longer in each room before moving on just to really appreciate the splendour of the palace.

It is a good visit, a very nice place with Spanish history, with very nice spaces, and if you are interested in history, it is worth the audio guide
