Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

Irene, our guide was full of knowledge and did an outstanding job. It is not easy to keep 30 different people herded together and keep it interesting. She gave details on the former occupants of the palace as well as the physical internal and external elements. We moved through each room at a comfortable pace.

Our guide offered insight during tour that walking through the cavernous and opulent castle solo would never offer. The Royal Castle is definitely eye candy and a must-do but to truly comprehend the finer points, a knowledgeable guide is imperative. Ours was very methodical and detailed with useful navigation and concise insight. She did a nice job.

We had a great experience on the Madrid Palace tour with Beatrice. She made the history so engaging while also explaining so much about the palace and its current and prior inhabitants. I would definitely recommend her and this trip to others.

If your tour guide is Irena, you’re in EXCELLENT hands!! She was such a fun guide and had extensive knowledge of the Royal Palace and its history. You can tell she really loves what she does. Would 100% book again! Meeting place was not far from the Royal Palace either, and conveniently outside a souvenir shop, if you’re looking for that! Headsets provided to hear everything being said.
