Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

I booked this kind of last minute (for me) as I was having trouble buying tickets for the palace. I’m so glad I did. This tour was a great value and my whole family really enjoyed our visit so much more than if we had gone on our own. First off, it was great to skip the line! Every time we passed by the palace the line was very long. Second we could hear our funny and knowledgeable guide very well with the headphones even though we had a fairly large group. I don’t see how any casual visitor would regret paying a little more for this tour versus going on your own.

On our last day in Madrid, we visited the Royal Palace. Our guide, Beatrice, was the best. We learned a lot about the Spanish royal family throughout the centuries, and she offered us excellent guidance at the palace. I felt like I was on a school trip with my history teacher. It was an awesome experience that I recommend to everyone. The tour was very good organized, fun, and full of valuable information. Thank you, Beatrice, for making our last day in Madrid a great and remarkable one!
