Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

So glad we booked this guided tour. Our guide was a wealth of knowledge on the palace and the royal family throughout history. He also had a good sense of humor and was obviously experienced in navigating a decent sized group of tourists through the busier rooms. From a technology standpoint, we enjoyed the earbuds which were super clear so we didn’t miss anything our guide said.

Jose was a fantastic guide - charismatic and communicative throughout our tour. He paused for the right amount of time for everyone to enjoy each room and provided a lot of interesting information in a funny manner. Highly recommend!

Great tour. Palace is beautiful. I enjoy learning more from guides than you do when you go by yourself. Guide was helpful and had a good pace - walking was a slower pace which allowed everyone to keep up and also look around.

I made sure to get there early because I didn’t want to get left behind. We were too early but did enjoy meeting in the store and looking around. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us enough time in each room to see and photograph. He was great at keeping track of his large group. The palace was beautiful and it also contained many artifacts. Exploring the palace was fun even on a hot day.
