Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

Great Tour, Highly Recommend!! Maria was so gracious and expertly navigated our large group. The equipment she provided helped us hear every word she said. She invited questions and there wasn’t one she couldn’t answer for us. Her directions were precise and expedited our movement. It was approximately 90 minutes long. Maria had helpful tips for photographers. One of very favorite tours.

We came to Madrid from Canada, our tour guide was Beatrice, she was fantastic, very knowledgable and passionate about history. She made this short 1,5h very fun and engaging, we learned a lot about the Palace and the history of Spain, considering it was just a 1,5h trip. Mind the fact that the tour starts in a gift shop that is about 5 min walk from the Palace.

Very convenient to skip the line as it was very busy! Our guide Rocio was knowledgeable, insightful, and had a delightful sense of humor which made an otherwise regular palace tour very memorable.

Enrique was an outstanding guide. The Royal Palace came alive as we dropped back in time learning the changes in building’s architecture over the years until present day. He discussed the various influences and royals throughout history. The various rooms we toured were spectacular in their opulence as well as importance with historic events. Each room different from the next. Enrique’s commentary kept all of us wanting more.

Didn’t stick to time for leaving as indicated in instructions. We were there 15 minutes before departure but guide was nice enough to wait for those who weren’t on time. Therefore we had to wait around also. Guide was very thorough in his explanations.

Quick jaunt through the palace. She was great and funny and sartorial. She dove into history details where appropriate, and has fun stories that were personal in other rooms
