Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid isn't just a residence; it's a place steeped in grandeur and history. Although the current kings reside elsewhere, this majestic palace remains the setting for important state ceremonies and solemn occasions, making it come alive with its significance. Let's dive into its story now. While Juvarra's original vision didn't materialize, the Royal Palace stands proud as Europe's largest inhabited palace. The Spanish Royal Family might not call it home, but it still holds their official residence. Construction lasted until 1764, and when Carlos III finally inhabited it, the palace boasted a staggering 135,000 square meters, 3,418 rooms, 870 windows, 240 balconies, and an impressive 44 staircases. It's more than just facts and figures; this palace holds tales of splendor and tradition, making every step within its walls an encounter with the essence of Spanish history.

Beatrice, our tour guide, was interesting, engaging and entertaining through out the tour. The history of the palace and the Spanish royal family was brought to life by using willing participants from the tour to take on roles of historical figures. What could have been otherwise a dry history lesson was more of an experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and recommend to visitors to Madrid.

The meeting spot is easy to find and a short walking distance from the palace. Our guide was lovely and knowledgeable of the palace and handled our group of ~20 people well. She also offered great tips on navigating the city and other places we should visit.

This was the most interesting tour we have been on in a very long time. Our tour guide, Arancha Juzgado Hernanz was exceptional! Her pace, English, extreme knowledge of the Royal Palace was unprecedented. We could ask her anything and she knew the answer. She was delightful and I would go on any tour with her as a guide. Her story telling was riveting. Well done and many thanks Arancha 😊🇨🇦

Great tour and guide. Added interesting facts to help us understand the history and context but didn’t overdo the details. The earpieces worked really well for hearing the guide and following her as we moved through the rooms.
