Unlike traditional markets, the Maeklong Railway Market is set up directly on the train tracks. Vendors display their goods such as fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, and other local products right on the ground where the train passes through. As the train approaches, vendors quickly retract their awnings and move their goods to make way for the train. It's a thrilling and unusual sight to see a bustling market transform into a clear path for a passing train within seconds.

Early start but well worth it. We got to ride on THE train going to the market, a few stops before the market itself. Then you have time to walk the track before the train goes back up the line and you get the picture opportunity. Victor was a very good guide. Then a stop off at a coconut farm then onto the floating market. Be patient as our agreed hotel pick up was about 15 minutes late because of a no show prior to us. Air conditioned van and comfy seats with seat belts.

Our trip was good if you ignore the van ride. Our guide Nan was great and kept us moving while stopping frequently for sites and bathrooms. Nan was absolutely focused on us making it to train on time, when we could have 5 minutes at monument not 30 second group shot. But not on your for that monument so that was fine. The van!...we sat in front row of seats. They have wedged in 4 rows of seats and kept the insert behind drivers seat. NO ROOM for your feet You have sit with feet wedged under seat sideways. My knee hurt so bad I thought about ripping out that counsel behind driver. It was loose and could go. We rode on other tours where that was removed and what a difference. My knee is still sore on stairs days later!
