Diether was my tour guide and did an excellent job. He customized the tour and provided excellent information. I learned a lot of the history of Mainz, like the Roman and French influences over the centuries, the importance of Gutenburg and the Bishop. I didn't realize how much there is in Mainz (especially underneath). Highly recommended when visiting.

A fascinating tour with an outstanding guide! The advertisement on Viator mentions the possibility of on-the-spot customization, a possibility which was certainly realized. My guide, Lothar, began by asking about my specific interests. Upon learning that I was most interested in the Gutenberg Museum, he changed the route for the tour. We proceeded immediately to the museum and spent the bulk of our time there. The guide used the museum’s lab to demonstrate the various steps in Gutenberg’s printing process and the technological advances that made the process possible. He then talked about the impact of printing on various historical events, most notably the Protestant Reformation. This customized tour of Mainz has been one of the high points of my visit to Germany. Highly recommended!
