Once at the top, our local guides from Valley Isle Excursions will set you up for the best experience—pointing out incredible viewing locations, sharing tips for seeing the sunrise, and telling stories about the history of the island.
After sunrise, we’ll take a short tour of the remainder of Haleakala National Park and the nearby ranch lands.

5.00This was definitely a not-to-miss outing. Being picked up a 02:40 am is a bit tough but once you're up and in the van, the worst part is over. Until you get up to the mountain top where it is FREEZING AND WINDY. Thankfully our tour company (Valley Isle Excursions) had fleece lined ponchos for us. I had three layers of clothing plus long underwear and I still would have been uncomfortably cold without the ponchos. And event lifesaver!! Thank you Valley Isle. I will never forget the sights of the sunrise on top of Haleakala.

5.00Dress warm and plan to relax! You arrive early for the sunrise and wait in the dark. Very informative guides and knowledgeable about the area and history. Breakfast is a special treat at a beautiful location also! Be sure to purchase the local fruits to try.

5.00Awesome experience. Guide was amazing, Views Breathtaking. Although VERY VERY COLD. Thank goodness they provided long, lined Ponchos! I was very layered up; but still cold to the bone, LOL. That said; would do it again!

4.00Well. Definitely a unique experience! It just so happened that the morning of our tour, we got hit by a storm. There was some rain on the way up, and then it cleared up for a bit. But by the time it was time for sunrise, we could see absolutely nothing because of the wind and the rain and the clouds. It was still super neat to be so high up, and it looked like we were in the middle of a storm on another planet. Our guide, Everett, remained positive throughout the experience, even though some people were a little disappointed by the lack of visible sun. It was nice that the company provided fleece-lined ponchos, especially since we had the wind and rain. They can’t control the weather, and I saw the chance for precipitation in the forecast, so I was somewhat prepared for the weather as well. I’ll try again another time!

5.00Abe and Brad were great. Pickup went smoothly and the drive was quiet and peaceful. There is a bathroom stop on the way, and you will arrive with plenty of time to see the stars. I’ve never seen so many shooting stars. They do provide a fleece lined poncho to use while at altitude which was a game changer. Even though I packed warm clothes with layers, this made all the difference. The sunset was gorgeous, and well worth the early start time. We got a lot of information on the way down the mountain which was interesting, and the restaurant was a cool spot to enjoy eating and walking around. Dropoff went off without a hitch. My wife is not a morning person and didn’t really get my I wanted to go on this excursion with such an early start time, but by the time we got back to the hotel she was saying how she would recommend this to anyone asking about things to do in Maui. Thank you Valley Isle Excursions!
