We had a unique experience in Mayan cooking class with Rebekah and Betsy. We were a group of 12 people and from the first moment everything was perfectly organized and careful to detail. Rebekah’s attention and hospitality as a host was extraordinary; she made us feel welcome at all times and also explained the behind and history of each ingredient, which made the experience even more special and enriching. Betsy is a great master cook, very clear in explaining and very passionate about what she does. The food we prepared was delicious, with fresh ingredients and excellent quality. We left very satisfied with this experience and will definitely come back. Super recommended for those who want to do something different around the Antigua area.

We had a great experience, making three authentic traditional Guatemalan foods with Maria and her family. This is a hands-on cooking class with many opportunities to contribute and learn about the food and the culture. The Mayan Pepian is a meat and vegetable stew which was delicious. We also made tamalitos and Molé with plantains. Our guide, XOSHIL met us in Antigua and facilitated our trip up to a local home on the outskirts of town. She was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Guatemala and shared many facts with us. It was very clear that everyone is very proud of their culture and traditions, especially related to cooking. We highly recommend this cooking class experience to anyone visiting the area. We are English speaking and XOSHIL was able to translate from Spanish to English for us.

We enjoyed this authentic Guatemalan Mayan cooking class with Maria and her family members. We had that opportunity to make three different traditional and delicious Guatemalan foods. Our guide, Xoshil met us in Antigua and facilitated our trip to a local home on the outskirts of town. She was very knowledgeable about Antigua and Guatemala and shared many interesting facts as we moved to the city and throughout the entire class. We are English speaking and she was able to translate everything that the local Spanish-speaking family said. This is a hands-on cooking class with lots of opportunity to participate and understand the preparation of the dishes. It was clear that everyone involved is very proud of their culture and happy to share it. We highly recommend this experience for anyone traveling to Antigua, Guatemala.

It has been a unique experience. We loved it from minute one. Both the market tour with Xoshil, an excellent guide, to the cooking workshop with Maria and her family. The dishes that have taught us delicious, involving us, have been very friendly and great hosts and opening the doors of their home. We have learned a lot and I repeat, Xoshil has been great, attentive, friendly and recommending restaurants and places to visit in Antigua. Nice to meet you! We recommend 100 percent the experience.

Our tour with Rebecca was absolutely incredible! She was delightful, friendly, and so knowledgeable about Antigua and Guatemalan culture. We started with a coffee tasting where we sampled different flavors of locally grown coffee, each one better than the last! Then Rebecca took us to visit a local family who welcomed us into their home and taught us how to make traditional mole sauce with plantains. It was hands-on, authentic, and so much fun. Rebecca made the entire day special. She shared fascinating stories, answered all of our questions, and created such a warm, welcoming experience. It was the perfect way to immerse ourselves in Guatemalan culture. A good time was had by all, and I can’t recommend this tour enough!

We highly recommend this tour. We went with our guide Monica who was outstanding. We got to walk around the Market and also the town of Santa Ana as streets were closed to traffic due to festivities. Monica was very nice and knowledgeable. The cooking class was great! Both parents and kids enjoyed it and had a blast cooking, we learnt a lot and had fun with Maria and Guadalupe who hosted us. Food was delicious!!

I am so glad my friends recommended this class!!! I loved everything we cooked, Maria explained everything so well, and on top of those obvious desires in a cooking class, to feel so welcomed into Maria’s home and with her family was amazing. I would definitely do another class. Much love and bendiciones to Maria and her family. Our guide and translator, Oseas, was really fun too!!
