I am disappointed with the botanical gardens as it is not lush and beautiful as other botanical gardens. There is a lot of new vegetation and not very well established considering it has been operating for 12years. Great idea with the buggies to get around . The bird world was disappointing, it was barren in the enclosures and not a pleasant experience( we couldn’t wait to get out) The group was large and we were just standing around in the enclosure trying to hear the speakers- the mega phone is not suitable for large groups - need to invest in better audio equipment. The price for the botanical and bird world was $47 for an adult plus hire for the golf cart. Very expensive day out for a family. They need to invest in the bird enclosure, provide a nicer environment for the birds rather than dead branches and dead leaves about. The birds were constantly biting the branches. Having attended the bird world in Cairns ( Kuranda) they could adopt some of these improvements at Maleny.

Firstly, I just want to say oh my goodness was it amazing. I loved seeing all the breathtaking views, the gardens and most of all, the birds, I was greeted by the red-tailed black cockatoo ‘Gracie’ and a bunch of other birds! Would recommend for bird lovers!

We visited today…an absolutely brilliant experience! Staff are wonderful and passionate…a big thank you shoutout to Verena, Dani and their team! The birds are so precious, especially Coco the opera singing parrot! We were given a buggy to tour the grounds in..stunning terraces and everything is immaculate..the gardens and views over the Glasshouse Mountains are beautiful. The rock formations, lakes, fish pond, waterfalls and the adorable fairy mushroom, the sweet donkeys and small animals, the Avery! We loved every second. If you are on the Sunshine Coast, put this on your list of must do’s…it’s a gorgeous day out. Cafe and gift shop great too…delicious scones!

Nice gardens to walk thru, although of course some things are not in season. The ladies at the entrance were super helpful. The aviary is the star as the young lady giving the tour was excellent and the birds a blast. Birds land on you and you can have birds placed on you. What a treat

This was our second visit and it was as memorable as the first. Our Avery guide Lydia was fantastic, her love for the birds and passion for her job really shines through, she was such a joy. Being able to get up and close with Black Cockatoos is so amazing, they are such magnificent birds. Beautiful property and Gardens to stroll around. Amazing little gem on the Hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.

10/10 experience even on rainy day. Best to come in the morning if you want to spend some time there or come morning and do the bird house later afternoon as there might be less people in later hours even though it wasn’t too crowded in the morning. You can easily spend there all day if you like nature and animals and have time. The gardens are not too large to walk with family and it all lies above the rainforest where they have a bit of trail aswell. Plus you have great views of the mountains. Friendly and happy animals, lovely staff and the whole place are amazing. All it’s maybe missing is some mini cow 🙂 Can’t reccomend them enough and I’d love to come again anytime

We spent a wonderful afternoon at the Botanic Gardens and Bird World. The tour guide for Bird World was great, he made everyone feel comfortable, you weren't rushed going through the aviary's, however you do not have unlimited time before you are taken through to the next aviary, as it is on a time limit. The birds come to you if they want to, nothing is forced, and when you get to the last aviary with the Macaws and Parrots you all get a photo opportunity when the guide (If you want to) puts one on your head!. This was a fabulous tour, and we had a particular huge black bird keep landing on us, we both had to take our glasses off as the bird wanted to grab them, and he also ate my husbands button on his t-shirt, but you are warned off this before you go through, if you love birds then do this experience, and have a camera ready. The botanical gardens are lovely, and we hired a buggy for an hour to go round so we could see everything, and then walked back to the areas we wanted to spend time in afterwards. The only negative is the café shuts really early, and there was hardly anything to have to eat, so I would advise having something before you go here. All in all a lovely afternoon out whilst staying in the area.
