We put off early today for Machha Khola. During the 8 hours drive into the western mountains, we enjoy the view of Nepalese landscape, villages, farms along with the mountain sceneries. We will be riding on a paved route from Kathmandu to Dhading Bensi, but the drive from Dhanding Bensi to Machha khola will be partly a bumpy dirt road ( about 30km).
Jagat
The trail is undulating, crosses streams and rocky ravines and reaches Khorla Besi. After walking for a short while, we come across a small Hotspring in Tatopan. A suspension bridge leads us to the eastern bank where we climb on a wide well crafted staircase to Dobhan. Resuming on a steep rocky trail, we skirt landslips in challenging landscape to cross a suspension bridge over Yaru Khola. We climb numerous stairs to reach Thado Bharyang from where we cross to the west bank of Budhi Gandaki to climb towards our night’s perch at the village of Jagat.
We begin our trek to Deng with an ascent over a rocky ridge to Salleri. We descend to Setibas and continue to Ghatta Khola where we cross a hanging bridge to reach the Gurung village of Philim. Passing along the millet fields to Ekle Bhatti from where the trail enters a steep, uninhabited gorge. As we keep walking the valley widens through bamboo forests to the Deng Khola. As we cross the Deng Khola, we arrive at a tiny village called Deng to spend the night.
We walk from Deng to cross the Budhi Gandaki to climb to Rana. We head west up the Budhi Gandaki valley crossing various streams and rivers to reach the Sringi Valley. We traverse up and down in the forests and Mani Walls to spend overnight at Ghap. We can also make a side-trip to visit Tibetan Gompas at Prok
The trail starts up through the forest densely vegetated with pine and birch to cross the river roaring down a narrow gorge . We continue on the narrow path through the forest to Namru with its check post, then continue through the forest path past small Tibetan villages towards Lihi. A Chorten with detailed paintings welcomes us to the Sho village with cluster of stone houses. With increasing altitude, the mountain views become more sensational. Manaslu, Manaslu North, Himalchuli, Saula Himal and Dwijen Himal rise either side of the trail as we move towards the village of Lho to spend the night.
We start our trek with a steep descent crossing a rock-strewn torrent, the Thusang Khola. Walking through the shady fir forest, we climb to the Village of Shyala on a plateau. The village is surrounded by gigantic mountains offering us the splendid panorama of Himal Chuli, Peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli), Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. As we move forward as we pass a large chorten into a little dip where two rows of houses makes the main part of the village of Samagoan. We spend our night at Samagoan which holds well known monastery called Sama.
We spend our day at Samagoan for acclimatization. We can walk to Pung-gyen Gompa, a renowned monastery from where we can enjoy the great views of the glacier. We spend our day exploring and immersing oneself into the daily lifestyle of the village.
We start from Sama through the foot of the great Manaslu Glacier as the trail to Manaslu Base Camp branches off. We take the trail towards Larkya la and pass several Mani walls as the valley begins to widen. We enter a forest of birch, juniper and rhododendron, cross a wooden bridge and climb steeply onto a promontory between two forks of the rivers before reaching Samdo to spend the night.
We start our walk by crossing the wooden bridge over the Budi Gandaki River. After crossing a couple of streams, the Larkya Glacier appears on the opposite bank. We steadily climb, skirting around the Sarka Khola towards the stone guest house called Dharmashalaat Larkya Phedi.
After a short ascent we reach a valley on the north side of the Larkya Glaciers from where we can enjoy great views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. We walk across the moraines of the glacier while making a gradual ascent to the pass where the outstanding views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru and the Annapurna II awaits us. Savoring the spectacular view from the pass, we continue our walk onto yak pastures towards Bimtang enjoying the evening mist.
We start from Bhimtang to Dharapani passing through the village of Tilije along the stone paved village. We cross the Dudh Khola walking along the river bank until we again pass over the wooden bridge to the northern side of the river. We pass a chorten shaped arch and Mani Wall to the village of Thonje and continue towards Dharapani where we will rest for a night.
Kathmandu
First, we drive to all way down to Beshisahar by local sharing jeep. It takes 4-5 hours. Then we continue driving by bus along Prithivi Highway. We offer you drive by bus to either Kathmandu or Pokhara as per your further travel plan. Towards Pokhara it is 5-6 hours drive and towards Kathmandu it takes 7 to 8 hours drive along the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. We enjoy the splendid views of green hills, mountains, farming terraces and villages as we drive back to Kathmandu.

We did the Manaslu-circuit in April 2025 with Nepal Trek Ways and it was an incredible experience. We were very satisfied with the organisation, everything worked out wonderfully. The first contact in Germany was with Bikash, he answered all our questions very quickly. Once arrived in Kathmandu we met Hari, the head of the agency, and Bimal, our Guide. Everything was prepared: the permits, tickets for the bus- transfer and all overnight stays. Next day we started our adventure, Bimal took care of everything, we could enjoy our trip carefree. We had lots of questions about the culture, religion and lifestyle of the locals we met. Bimal could answer everything. So our trekking became an unforgettable experience. Thank you so much Bikash, Hari and Bimal. We hope to come back soon and would always choose you for organising and guiding the next trekking tour.

In the beginning, I dreamt of conquering the mighty Mount Everest, but fate had a grander plan, unveiling the enchanting Manaslu Trek. This journey wasn't a compromise; it was a revelation – a perfect fusion of natural wonders, expert guidance, and an unexpected guardian angel. 🏔️ Each day on the Manaslu Trek gifted us a unique spectacle of jaw-dropping landscapes. Nature's diversity was astonishing, from lush forests to arid terrains, cascading waterfalls to serene alpine lakes. The Manaslu region was a living masterpiece, a constantly changing canvas that left me spellbound. 🏔️ Our guide, Sundeep, became the heartbeat of this unforgettable adventure. His professionalism was surpassed only by his warmth and kindness. Sundeep had a gift for breathing life into the mountains, sharing captivating insights about the region's history, geology, and the flora and fauna. His tales about the local villagers and their culture enriched our journey. 🏔️ The true magic of our Manaslu adventure was embodied by our guardian angel, Thakalie – our dedicated porter. With a smile and unwavering positivity, Thakalie shouldered our burdens, making us feel as if we had a genuine guardian angel watching over us. His boundless support and joyful disposition transformed a challenging expedition into a heartwarming experience. 🏔️ What elevated this trek even more was the profound bond that blossomed within our group. We quickly became a family, bound by our shared passion for adventure and a desire to explore Manaslu's captivating landscapes. Together, we celebrated triumphs, overcame challenges, and etched memories that will forever dwell in our hearts. 🏔️ While physically demanding, the Manaslu Trek was undeniably rewarding. It tested our limits and rewarded us with vistas that only a select few are privileged to witness. From the first glimpse of snow-capped peaks to the final steps back to civilization, the Manaslu Circuit was a journey that I will forever treasure. 🏔️ I wholeheartedly recommend this trek, especially if you seek an alternative to the crowded Everest region. The Manaslu Circuit offers a perfect blend of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural immersion. My profound gratitude extends to Hari, Sundeep, Thakalie, and the entire team for crafting an unforgettable adventure.

I am incredibly grateful to Hari and his team for their impeccable organisation: from airport pick-up and fascinating excursions in and around Katmandu to the final celebratory beer, the Manaslu circuit trek has been quite simply wonderful. Eye-popping views, smooth logistics. We were able to enjoy every single minute, 100% worry-free. It was physically tough but every minute was a pleasure. The route has it all: snow-capped peaks, waterfalls, gorges, forests, jungle, monasteries, villages, temples and, above all, the welcoming Nepali people. Our guide Sundeep gave us crucial insights into what we were seeing and was focused on our welfare 24/7. A huge thank you also to our wonderful porter, Takkele. The entire experience exceeded my expectations and I hope to return to do another trek with Hari as soon as possible.

We did the Manaslu Trekking in October 2022 and had the absolute best time!!! The itinerary is very good in terms of hours hike per day as well as free days to rest/ acclimatize (which is very important to help preventing from altitude sickness, as far as possible). The guide is very professional and knows a lot about the area we’re hiking in which adds to the experience. Besides this, the views are absolutely stunning! The area transforms from green forrest/ woods into rocky trails with spectacular views of the Himalaya. The trek also takes you to some special places like Pingun Gumba where you are literally at the food of mount Manaslu. For us, this (around) 2 week trek was a once in a lifetime experience we’ll never forget. Massive thanks to Nepal Trek Ways for organizing and keeping us safe.

We did the Manaslu Trek in April 2022 and it was an indescribable experience. The first contact in Germany was with Bikash, who always answered all our questions very quickly. Even then it felt like we were not communicating with strangers, he gave us great tips about the packing list and made our anticipation grow every day. Once we arrived in Kathmandu, the pic up service worked great and we were finally able to meet Hari,Bikash and our guide Ross. The organisation with the permits was also totally great. From the first day of the trek, Ross was an attentive, more than friendly, obliging and funny guide who always had everything in view. Whether we wanted tea, a break, a photo stop, to experience the golden our at 5:30am yoga in the Morning or just to pick up the pace to escape the rain. The lodges were all a pleasure and through Ross we came into so much contact with themagical people of Manaslu Circuit. of Ross gave us so much information about the country and its people and his selfless nature made every day a pure pleasure. In the background, the best transfer was organised for us and we are very happy and grateful to have met these great people from the team. We enjoyed the exceptional hospitality and will be back as soon as possible. We may have come as clients but we left as friends and have a backpack full of magical moments. These lines cannot describe how incredible this tour was. Gabi from Nuremberg

We feel so lucky and happy to have found Nepal Trek Ways and doing the Manaslu Circuit Trek with Hari's Team. They provided us with everything we needed to have and know, were always available for our questions beforehand, during and after the trek (also during the weeks before our flight to Nepal. Thanks for your patience and dedication, Bikash :)), showed us an extraordinary hospitality and just made our trip to Nepal an unforgettable experience which we will always carry in our hearts. So if you are looking for an experienced, licensed agency and guides - look no further but contact Hari and his team and look forward to a very special time :) We did the Manaslu Circuit within 14 days (12 days hiking, 2 days travel by jeep/transport). Starting in Sotchi Kola and ending in Tal. Rojan was our guide and tried to make every wish come true - and he succeeded :) (from finding the prettiest lodges with the best views, to finding a yarn dealer in the mountains, to recommending a tatoo studio in Kathmandu...). Also we had the possibility to adjust our itinerary along the way - according to weather and preference. We miss Nepal already and will soon, soon be back :) Thanks for everything, Nadine
