As a life long keys resident It is my pleasure to show you the mangrove tunnels that we enjoyed as kids off Key Largo. Enjoy the beauty of the Florida Keys from the water while we paddle along the crystal clear waters of the Florida Keys. See birds, wildlife, fish, and learn about the area as well.

What To Expect
Key Largo
Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Adventure. Experience the waters off Key Largo as a local during this 3 hour tour in the mangroves off Key Largo. Kayak through crystal clear waters as we learn about the mangroves and their importance to the ecosystem of the Florida Keys. Learn about the birds, fish, turtles, and manatees that frequent these areas. For those that are interested snorkel through some of the tour as you experience the world under the mangroves as well. For those booking a 2 or more guests, we will automatically assign tandem (2 person) kayaks to those travelers. Travelers requesting single kayaks…please call us after booking to request single kayaks.

4.00Stephen was our guide and provided great info on the mangroves and wildlife. Very helpful and informative. Only disappointment was that the woman at the store/office told us not to bring phones/cameras and we wish we had. Stephen did take our picture but taking our own pics would have been easy as the waters were very calm. We had considered just renting kayaks at the park on our own but we are glad we did the tour. The paths are tricky to navigate and solo kayakers were seeking Stephen’s guidance on which way to go. Great trip!

4.00Overall I enjoyed my experience on this kayak tour. Steven and Memo were our guides, they both were pretty chill & provided us with knowledge and facts regarding the ecosystem. The tour was listed as 3 hours, however we left late & ended early this is why I deducted a Star.

5.00Bob is great - native knowledge with a chill vibe. Bring a mask and snorkel to swim/float in the tunnel section with current. To see fish and colorful sponges.

4.00Easy kayaking through mangrove tunnels of John Pennekamp park with a knowledgeable and very nice guide. Some experience is definitely required for a smooth trip even though the description says none is required. Bring extra water with you and sunscreen! We met at the Florida Outfitters to register then drove to the park and launch point. Our tour started late, and even though the guide said we would kayak later to make up the time, we ended on time which was disappointing. Regardless, my family (including the teenager) had a fun time. We are not super experienced kayakers, so having a guide to navigate the mangroves was perfect for us.

4.00Kayaking among the meandering mangroves provides some shade on a warm day. We saw fish but not much else. You not need to rent for 1 hour to do a loop and could have saved the money we spent on a second hour. No manatees sited in the park

5.00We had a wonderful experience. Bob, the guide was so knowledgeable. We loved the entire trip. It was very relaxing and fun experience. Our kids are 15 and 9 and loved the trip. Even if you had no kayaking experience it’s the perfect trip. You could also take kids much younger.
