Take a 2-hour group surfing lesson in Margaret River to learn everything you need to know about catching waves and staying safe doing so. A surfing instructor is with you every step of the way: on the beach for demonstrations, in the water for tips and assistance, and providing encouragement when you claim your first wave. When booking, you have the option to upgrade to a 3-lesson package. Use of all gear is provided.

What To Expect
At the beginning of each lesson our coaches will give you all the information you need to have you feeling assured before even getting into the water. We teach you about the waves, rips, potential hazards and surfing etiquette. Then techniques on how to carry your board, attach your leg rope, paddle for a wave and stand up. Once in the water, your coach will assist you with wave selection and help you balance as you get a feel for paddling and standing up on the waves. Your coach will be with you every step of the way to make sure you feel safe and get the best advice for a top quality lesson.

5.00Thank you so much Margaret River Surf School for providing such a great learning environment for our students. The coaches, equipment and location were fantastic. The coaches allow students to guide the instruction of the lesson due to their ability, and allowed them freedom to make their own choices. Many students went from surfing the inside to surfing green waves in one lesson.

5.00Super super great!! Quite likeable teachers, we had the wonderful Alex, very nice on the phone, good equipment and surfing there was wonderful!! We were beginners and still stood quite often.

5.00The team is fantastic : friendly, patient, and super encouraging. I took the 3-lesson package and absolutely loved it. Despite a few falls, I managed to catch some waves, it was so much fun!!! Surfing was way more fun than I expected, and I left with a big smile 😁 A huge shout-out to Alex, you were absolutely amazing! And a warm thank you to Kiara and Lorenzo too. 5.00Our school used MR Surf School to teach our students to surf over a course of three weeks. The instructors were enthusiastic and helpful and our kids really enjoyed their time in the water. Many were buzzing with enthusiasm and noting this as a highlight of their Primary School years. Due to the huge amount of positive feedback we are now considering how to make this an annual tradition.

5.00The coaches and staff at Margaret River Surf School provided the most amazing experience for our Year 12 Outdoor Education students. The coaches were able to instil confidence in the students to challenge themselves and develop their surfing skills in a safe environment. I have been teaching Outdoor Education for 15 years and this was the best surf lesson and experience that I have been a part of with Outdoor Education students.

5.00The group lesson was awesome. I would highly recommend for all ages, we had a 3 year old and a 73 year old! The instructors were great with kids and really made an effort for everyone at all levels. Redgate beach is also a magic spot.

5.00I did a Group lesson with Arthur as our instructor. I had a great time! First we had a walkthrough of safety and then we got straight into the water! Can definitely recommend if you wanna try surfing for your first time!

5.00My husband and daughter did a 5 day lesson. I went along and watched each day. They improved a little everyday with the wonderful coaching and experience that was offered. The instructors were all very helpful, kind and very friendly. Even from the beach I could tell my family were in great hands. Arthur was our favorite. The age group during the week was very wide, with different experiences, the boys looked after everyone equally with experience, safety and care.
