A fun casual tour of Uji combined with a matcha grinding experience where you grind and make your own cup of matcha tea. Super casual and low key. Fine for families with kids (probably ages 8+).

We were lucky to have Eri as our guide for this tour - she was amazing! It was just my girlfriend and I on this tour so Eri spent time to get to know us and our matcha experience to cater this tour towards our needs and likes! She is an avid matcha drinker too so we really appreciated her recommendations for matcha types and the local matcha shops in Uji. She shared her knowledge of Uji’s history with us throughout the tour and answered all of our questions we had about Japanese culture. She even helped us navigate the bus system to our next stop after the tour! As for the actual matcha grinding experience, it was fun and delicious! Eri and the other staff members were so kind to show us how to use the tools and tips/tricks to make the best cup of matcha (and the hojicha tea jelly at the end was also delicious!!) 10/10 recommend this tour if you’re new to matcha, like myself, but also a great way to learn and explore Uji!

Vincent was an awesome tour guide, he took us to Uji and a couple of temples with the matcha experience. He was full of knowledge and made the experience even better with history and stories of the stops! Highly recommend the tour and ask for Vincent!

My friend and I had a wonderful time on this tour. We got to experience grinding our own matcha, visited a beautiful temple, and had time to do some matcha shopping as well. The tour was very engaging and informative. Our guide - Vincent shared lots of interisting facts and made sure everyone felt included throughout the experience. It was a fun and interesting day, and we learned so much along the way. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in Japanese culture and matcha!

My 12 year old son and I spent a wonderful day with Eri on this tour. She is an erudite person, so knowledgeable, so approachable, just perfect. She answered every question I had, including general questions about Japanese culture. She tailored the tour to our needs and interests. We loved Uji and can’t wait to return. In short, I can’t imagine a better guide to this beautiful and interesting place. Thank you, Eri!

What a wonderful day I had in Uji with Eri!! She had so much history of Uji to share, and as a "semi"-Japan history buff, I found it all intriguing!! Her knowledge about the different types of tea and how they are processed was also amazing!! Matcha grinding session was just icing on the cake. . ending one of my best days in Japan.

We went on the Matcha Grinding Experience & Walking Tour in Uji with Vincent and couldn’t have asked for a better time. Vincent was very friendly and we enjoyed spending time with him. He explained everything that we saw, even better than the guides at the matcha grinding experience, and it helped us so much in understanding what we were seeing. It was so interesting hearing Vincent’s stories about day to day life in Japan and comparing it with our daily lives in America. I feel like we learned a lot about Japan from him. Lastly, I walk with a cane and Vincent was so accommodating to my needs, slowing down the pace when i needed it, finding elevators for me rather than climbing stairs and even offering to carry my bag for me. All of this was so appreciated! Thank you, Vincent, for showing us such a wonderful day in Japan!
