This is a flexible day trip, built around lunch at one of our favourite village restaurants!
In the morning you have the option to stop at Bunk'Art 1 (tickets approx €5), and to take the Dajti Ekspres cable car up Mt Dajti (approx €8; the minivan comes up by road). If you choose, you can also climb to the peak of Mt Dajti (about 1h up, and 45 minutes down).
From Dajti we'll drive on through beautiful countryside to our lunch stop, a small wooden shack owned by the lovely Dëfrim and Hilda. Nowadays most village restaurant close to Tirana have been refurbished to a gangster aesthetic, but Dëfrim and Hilda keep the place as simple as possible, and let their food do the talking.
Veal is the speciality of the house - the cows are raised on Dëfrim's little farm, and cooked in the traditional saç method. If you prefer lamb, goat or chicken, no worries - just give us 48 hours advance notice.

What To Expect
Bunk'Art 1
We'll spend about an hour exploring Bunk'Art 1 - the huge and top secret nuclear bunker built by the Communist regime (using Chinese cash and expertise). This is a great place to be in summer - it's deliciously cool!
Dajti Ekspres Cable Car
If you choose, you can take the Dajti Ekspress cable car halfway up Dajti, while the minivan comes up on the road.
What‘s Included
Dëfrim and Hilda's Meat Shack is a simple place - so don't come if you like fancy restaurants! Veal is the house speciality - we'll need 48 hours notice to arrange lamb, goat or chicken.
Driver / Guide
We'll use either a car or minivan for this day trip, depending on group size.
Alcohol is definitely not included (though we recommend the raki!).

5.00Excellent value and wonderful experience. Tirana Weekends coordinated this awesome lunch in the countryside. They reached out to us to craft the day trip in whatever way worked for us. That meant stopping by Bunk Art 1 and then taking the cable car to the top of Mt. Datji. After, we had a massive lunch with the most flavorful beef, and slept in the back of the van on the ride home in a food coma. Our guide was so interesting and intelligent, that the booking fee was worth it, just to hear all things he has done, all of the places he has lived, and his experience as an Albanian.
