Our walking tour of Melbourne was one of the absolute highlights of our trip, and that was entirely thanks to our incredible guide, Mike. Mike was very knowledgeable and personable, with a passion for his hometown of Melbourne. What really stood out was Mike’s depth of knowledge. He didn’t just recite dates and historical facts — he told stories. He brought Melbourne’s past to life, explaining how the city evolved from its early days through the gold rush era and into the vibrant cultural capital it is today. He connected history, architecture, politics, art, and everyday local life in a way that was easy to understand and genuinely fascinating. Exploring the famous laneways was a highlight. Mike guided us through hidden alleys we would never have found on our own (AC/DC Lane) pointing out ever-changing street art, tucked-away cafés, historic arcades, and unique local businesses. He explained the significance behind the murals and how Melbourne’s street art scene has developed into one of the most respected in the world. It felt like we were being shown the city by a knowledgeable friend rather than following a scripted tour. Mike also kept us entertained with clever commentary, making it very informative and fun. Another thing we appreciated was his attentiveness. He checked in to see if we had questions, needed a stop for drinks, bathroom breaks or wanted to have individual time at the sights. Beyond history and landmarks, Mike gave us excellent local recommendations — from coffee spots to restaurants and cultural experiences. It was clear he genuinely loves Melbourne and wants visitors to experience the best of it. If you’re considering a walking tour in Melbourne, we cannot recommend Mike highly enough. His knowledge, enthusiasm, humor, and professionalism made this an unforgettable experience. It was easily one of the best tours we’ve ever taken.

An excellent tour that gave us a great insight to Melbourne. The itinerary was insightful and well paced and to a certain extent tailored to our needs and interests. We were left on our own for a while in the library and the war memorial to explore at our own pace which was much appreciated. Absolutely recommended

I was fortunate to have a private tour. My guide asked what I particularlly wanted to see and do and then proceeded to take me to places I would especially enjoy. I was amazed at all the wonderful historical museums as well as specific spots unique to Melbourne. It is a lovely city and a very knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend the experience.
