What To Expect

Mikkeller Bar

At the center of Copenhagen's beating heart in Vesterbro lies an unassuming little cellar bar. This is the site of the very first Mikkeller Bar. Originally founded with an ambition to create the best beer bar in the world, this would come to be the blueprint for multiple locations worldwide. None of this was known back when the bar first opened its doors. Back then, Mikkeller founder and CEO Mikkel Borg Bjergsø had a wish to create a cozy place where beer enthusiasts from all over the world could enjoy not only his own beers, but the absolute best that the beer world had to offer – both old and new.

The Vesterbro area’s main street Istedgade exudes diversity. Between porn shops and strip bars are some of the city's best boutiques, restaurants and bars. For many years, Istedgade was dominated by drugs, porn and prostitutes, but today the famous street has transformed to something else – especially in the end opposite Copenhagen Central Station, while still maintaining some of its authentic vibes in the other.

Wow!!! What a wonderful way to learn about Copenhagen and the beer scene here. My fiancé and I are big beer enthusiasts and loved this tour! While we are not normally tour people, we would recommend this tour to anyone looking to hear the wonderful and interesting history of Copenhagen AND enjoy wonderful beers. This was definitely our most favorite part of this trip and we would absolutely do it again when we are back!

Really enjoyed this walking tour! We had a great time. Yummy variety of beers, great history of the Vesterbro neighbourhood, and a lovely guide. Really recommend to anyone looking to explore Copenhagen!

A very nice tour to explore the city and the beer-culture. A really great experience with information on the city district and on all of the tasted beers. Christoffer, the guide, really loves what he is doing and the tour is totally authentic! I can highly recommend this tour!

Even in cold weather the tour was completely worthwhile. The tour may take longer the advertised, if able be flexible at the back end of the tour, else it's also fine to skip the extended session. Mikkeller tour had alot of great tasting beers in the more mild end, so few stouts and sours. Many great stories both about Mikkeller and Carlsberg, personal anecdotes, and inside on the city's development and history. A good way to get the unique history of a city, and get recommendations with a little buzz on.

Excellent! Super guided tour, very informative both as regards the history around Carlsberg and Mikeller. One should not at all be nervous for a guided tour in English. You get a really wide spectrum from the Danish beer scene - mostly from Mikeller. This is seasoned with personal anecdotal stories from the most fantastic drawer delivered with great enthusiasm. It is hard to say anything that is just a little negative!
