What To Expect
Milford Sound
Take a stunning Scenic Flight to Milford Sound from Queenstown, with our fly cruise fly package including a 2-hour Cruise. Milford Sound is New Zealand's premier tourist destination, and the sheer scale and staggering beauty of the fiord are experienced from all viewpoints. We will fly you from Queenstown over the Southern Alps with breathtakingly spectacular and endless panoramic views of lakes, forested river valleys, waterfalls, jagged razor-backed ridge lines and snow covered peaks. After landing at Milford we will choose whether to take the shuttle bus or, if time permits, take you on a short walk through the bush and foreshore to the cruise boat. Once on the boat, you will take a leisurely cruise along the whole length of the fiord. After the cruise, your pilot will escort you back to the aircraft for the return flight to Queenstown along a different flight path.

5.00Amazing. An incredible flight - views are exceptional and totally worth the cost. Saving ten hours of driving is a big win as well. A total high light of our trip and a “must do” while in the South Island. We were very impressed by the service given by True South: the preflight and booking was very easy and friendly, and the pilots were great, providing just the right amount of information. Would book again with True South without hesitation.

5.00I’m 56 and I’ve done a fair amount of travelling in my time. The flight to and cruise on Milford Sound has to be the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen with my own eyes. I’ve posted a few photos but TBH photos portray about 10% of the true majesty and beauty of the experience. I can’t believe I agonised over the extra expense of flying. Unforgettable, unmissable.

5.00We had an incredible fly–cruise–fly experience with True South Flights. From the moment we took off, Dan the pilot was fantastic — knowledgeable, calm and genuinely engaging. He pointed out landmarks and stunning landscape features as we flew over them, checked in with passengers when the flight was bumpy, and clearly explained what to expect with the weather conditions. The first flight was a little bumpy due to weather, but on the return Dan chose a smoother route, which made a big difference and showed real care for passenger comfort. The Milford Sound cruise itself was absolutely beautiful. The captain shared fascinating stories and legends about the Sound, pointed out wildlife, and added so much depth to the experience beyond just the scenery (which was breathtaking). Overall, a seamless, well-run and memorable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend True South Flights if you’re considering a fly–cruise–fly option — a truly special way to see Milford Sound.

5.00Super awesome experience. One of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. Highly recommend. Be mindful however that there is a chance due to weather that your booking could be cancelled the day of. We almost had ours get cancelled for weather/safety.

5.00The Milford Sound fly-cruise-fly tour with True South Flights was a truly unforgettable experience. The views from the plane are breathtaking and our amazing pilot Luke not only shared so much knowledge of the landscapes we were flying over but he also made sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. The cruise around Milford Sound was beautiful from start to finish, we even saw seals and dolphins! This experience is absolutely worth every penny and we both agreed this experience was our favourite of the whole trip.
