What To Expect
Milford Sound
Take a stunning Scenic Flight to Milford Sound from Queenstown, with our fly cruise fly package including a 2-hour Cruise. Milford Sound is New Zealand's premier tourist destination, and the sheer scale and staggering beauty of the fiord are experienced from all viewpoints. We will fly you from Queenstown over the Southern Alps with breathtakingly spectacular and endless panoramic views of lakes, forested river valleys, waterfalls, jagged razor-backed ridge lines and snow covered peaks. After landing at Milford we will choose whether to take the shuttle bus or, if time permits, take you on a short walk through the bush and foreshore to the cruise boat. Once on the boat, you will take a leisurely cruise along the whole length of the fiord. After the cruise, your pilot will escort you back to the aircraft for the return flight to Queenstown along a different flight path.

3.00We had the choice between a 9-hour coach journey or just over an hour by plane. With only a week to explore the South Island, we opted for what felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience and chose to fly—maximising our time in New Zealand. Coming from a strong hospitality background in the UK, where customer experience is everything, it was a little disappointing to be greeted at reception in a way that made us feel more like an inconvenience than welcomed guests. I completely understand that places like Queenstown see a constant flow of visitors and that front-of-house roles can be demanding and repetitive. However, those initial interactions really do set the tone and can make or break the overall experience. That said, Tanmay, our pilot, was outstanding. His professionalism and warmth made the journey truly enjoyable, and both flights were seamless. And of course, Milford Sound absolutely delivered—an unforgettable experience that lived up to expectations.

5.00I highly recommended this trip! Staffs are super helpful and respond email quickly. Check-in process was smooth and instructions were provided clearly. The 4-hr trip with a small group worths every dollar. Our captain Luke is the best. He is knowledgeable, friendly and passionated pilot!

5.00Absolutely MUST do experience. The flight was definitely the highlight. The cruise was great, and beautiful scenery, but if you're on the fence about paying a little bit more $$ for the flight, DEFINITELY do the flight! It was just so beautiful and captivating to experience from the air. Our pilot, Luke, was lovely, and felt very safe.

4.00Excellent experience , well worth the money and such lovely staff and pilot. Only issue was that trip advisor told us they would pick us up from the campervan site which was not true and we got a phone call to say pick up was in town and had to run to the pick up stop.

5.00When booking this activity True South stressed the importance of safety. They stated flights might be canceled due to bad weather. Our original flight time was canceled due to bad weather but the friendly front desk staff were able to book us for the following day. Upon check in the staff gave clear information on how the day would proceed. Captain Luke took us from the office to the plane and went over all safety precautions again. Once in the air, Luke pointed out the sights on the way to Milford Sound. The crew of the cruise ship was very welcoming and helpful. It was fantastic to see all the sights and listening to the captain give information about what we were seeing. After the cruise Luke to us back to the plane for the ride home on a different route. Luke continued to point out the sights on the way back. This was our big splurge on this trip and Captain Luke and all the True South staff and the the ship’s staff made it an amazing and safe journey.
