What To Expect
Te Anau Downs
Following departure form Te Anau, we have a 25min drive to Te Anau Downs. If the weather is appropriate, we stop here for a photo and sightseeing looking across Lake Te Anau and down the Middle Fjord.
Mirror Lakes Walk
Following a 20min drive, we arrive at Mirror Lakes. This short 2-minute nature walk on well formed tracks and boardwalks will have you at the tranquil Mirror Lakes, the backdrop of the Earl Mountains behind them. This is a challenge for any travelling photographer to capture the essence of the lakes - their mirror reflection.

5.00We did a Luxe Tours trip from Te Anau to Milford Sound and back (with a two hour Milford Sound cruise) and it was AMAZING. Our driver, Ian, was such a nice guy with interesting and informative banter, the van was comfortable and the perfect size, the scenery stunning even on a misty day, the photo stops and bush walk were lovely, the muffins were seriously good, the free drink bottle was a bonus and the Ata Whenua movie shown in the van on the return trip was cinematically beautiful. There were four of us in our party and we couldn't fault our day (although if some of the mist had lifted a bit we could have seen the Cleddau Valley which remained hidden all day!). Thank you - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Luxe Tours.

Tommy was outstanding so knowledgeable about the tour and the surrounding area, it was honestly unbelievable. He made the experience even more special with all the insights he shared along the way. 5.00What a wonderful, scenic, relaxed tour to Milford Sound from Te Anau with Andres at Luxe Tours. Obviously the scenery is wonderful, but so was the guiding, the van, and the seating onboard the cruise portion. Great snacks, too. All around a lovely, well run operation in a truly stunning environment.

5.00Luxe Tours were great. Transportation was comfortable. Luxe thought of the small conveniences; water, umbrellas, snacks. Andres was very personable, informative with just enough information, funny and assisted whenever needed. He stopped at great spots along the way. Liked being in a smaller group instead of the big buses. Luxe had reserved location for us to sit on the boat which was a perfect spot. Overall great experience.

5.00I would highly recommend Luxe Tours for a day trip to Milford Sound! They truly have thought of every detail to make the day enjoyable. The van was very comfortable, the stops along the way were beautiful, and Murray, our driver, was super knowledgeable and funny! The advantage of Luxe Tour was the small group, no queues , great personal service luxury and comfortable vans. We are happy to recommend this small local family business to others. 5.00Our day tour to Milford Sound was outstanding. We were picked up by Nicky who took the time to greet us all individually when we got on the van. The van holds 11-12 passengers so it is much smaller than all others tours and more personable. Nicky’s commentary and stops along the way were great. She is very knowledgeable which makes the tour run smoothly. The trip there is as good as the boat cruise. Luxe tours go above and beyond and I would most certainly use them again for tours. They also partner with Real NZ who are also a great company for boat tours. These tours are worth every cent paid!

5.00We were collected at our accommodation on time by Ian our guide. Ian was friendly and informative and we appreciated the photo stops on the way. The boat was clean and comfortable and not over crowded. Lunch was served and surprisingly very nice. We were lucky to have seen seals in Milford Sound. Not to many waterfalls were present unfortunately. The ride to and from the marina was lengthy but made comfortable. Ian provided us with yummy muffins for morning tea. All in all a great tour and would highly recommend Luxe tours to anyone wanting to visit Milford Sound.
