What To Expect
Te Anau Downs
Following departure form Te Anau, we have a 25min drive to Te Anau Downs. If the weather is appropriate, we stop here for a photo and sightseeing looking across Lake Te Anau and down the Middle Fjord.
Mirror Lakes Walk
Following a 20min drive, we arrive at Mirror Lakes. This short 2-minute nature walk on well formed tracks and boardwalks will have you at the tranquil Mirror Lakes, the backdrop of the Earl Mountains behind them. This is a challenge for any travelling photographer to capture the essence of the lakes - their mirror reflection.

5.00An amazing day. Blessed with the weather and Luxe is the way to go. Small group, personalised service and such knowledgeable, authentic travel guide commentary from our guide, Andres. We saw so many big buses and spoke with travellers. They didn’t get the same deal.

5.00Great tour, very comfortable minibus. Ian was a fantastic guide and driver giving his own experience of the region. Lots of photo stops. Really appreciated the reduced numbers on the boat especially as it was raining.

5.00From start to end, this was a fabulous tour!!!The spectacular scenery takes centre stage. Murray our coach driver was very informative throughout the entire experience. Enjoyed the pit stops along the way to the Milford Sound. Milford Sound is gorgeous, 2hrs by cruise and plenty of time to get ‘the shot’! Would highly recommend this tour.

5.00We had the best guide ever. Nicky was very knowledgeable and with all the rain and wind we encountered she still took time to stop for photos. Our Milford Sound tour was spectacular. With the heavy rain the waterfalls were a sight to behold. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00What a fantastic day, despite it raining throughout. Our guide Murray was knowledgeable, friendly and funny and it was obvious that he had a great passion for the Milford Sound area. He took us to secluded spots that we would never have seen if we visited on our own. The cruise was also great, though it was difficult to view the scenery from the open air deck due to the constant drizzle, although that meant that the dozens of waterfalls along the journey were going a full throttle. A decent lunch was included in our tour package, plus we were provided with refreshments along the way. The seven of us agreed that it was just about the best thing we did on the South Island and I would not hesitate to recommend Luxe Tours and in particular this tour.

5.00Very happy with the tour - travel was in a comfortable car, everything was planned and thought through well with the comfirt of clients in mind, our guide took an excellent care of our small group (we happened to be only 6!), including how to navigate through when it gets busy with other tourists. Our tour was on a rainy day which I though may be a problem, though it actually made the tour more memorable and impressive and showed the true character and power of mountains and fjords. The rain provided the multitude of waterfalls over the mountains (which otherwise would not be there) and the raging streams of all rivers extra powerfull. In overalll - excellent service for an appropriate reasonable price. Sorry, no photos due to slow WiFi connection

5.00This was the third time I have been to Milford Sounds in 23 years. My tour with Luxe Tours was the best of the three. Our guide was very knowledgeable and willing to share it especially the National forest, flora and wildlife. The coffee and muffins, water bottles and extremely comfortable seating all added to the experience and manaakitanga (hospitality). We highly recommend this company and their personal touches.

5.00We had a fabulous day with Andreas. The smaller group size makes a big difference. We could have driven ourselves, but the experience was so much better being chauffeured!! Andreas was able to tailor our tour based on the weather and the wishes of the group. He took us to places we would not have seen on our own. He was very knowledgeable about the area and provided excellent (and humorous) commentary during the drive. He was very considerate of everyone on the tour. The weather was unusually lovely so not as many waterfalls, but we loved hiking and riding the boat in the sunshine.
