Milford sound was really extraordinary experience! The captain of our boat was very kind and gave us some details and info of the scenery and things we saw. 2 hours boat ride was really enough and effective. Really recommend!

Boat offered ample space for everyone. Tour lasted only 1:40 h. Didn't go as far as the open sea. Announcements from the captain due to the speed of speech and the slang are hard for us to understand. Milford but a must! Just the road there. I don't know if it has to be this provider.

4.85 rating. The glass roof bus was beautiful! The one way trip did not seem like 5 hours. Amazing to have overhead views. Really appreciated the USB ports. I would advise all passengers to have a hat with a brim. There are no shades on the bus and the sun is everywhere as you're riding along. A hat helps blocks the sun. The stops were great along the way. Be advised that there is no parking lot available and on street parking is very limited. It would have been nice to know this in advance. The transition from motorcoach to boat, and vice versa, was seamless. I don't know that it was announced about how to download the translation narration. There was a non-English speaking family that seemed a bit lost. I recommend the trip and the glass roof bus. My understanding is that it was only 3 months old.

I visited in mid february as a solo traveler. I did not purchase tickets ahead and was lucky to find one for sale at the counter. The cruise lasted just shy of 2 hours and included great commentary that was both historic and comical as well as the opportunity to see the beautiful landscapes as well as wildlife. On my cruise we saw a whale, dolphins and seals. Be mindful these cruises operated in most mild weather including rain and wind. It was raining on my cruise - but I think it added to the overall experience and made it better. I recommend snagging a seat upstairs on the outside deck early so you have front row camera spots. My tour was narrated in English and there were park lunches and cafe items for sale. There were many friendly staff members able to take your photo as you go along which was helpful as a solo traveler. They were all very kind.

The Milford Sound is a spectacular views. Worth the 2 hour drive from Te Anua. Long 4 hour drive from Queenstown. The bus trip is a beautiful drive too. The price was cheaper than some other companies. However the boat and food is slightly less quality. For example boat was a bit older that other companies.

It was truly magical and we loved the Milford Sound experience so much. We drove down to the Sound ourselves which was perfect for us as you can take your time to enjoy the drive and all the sights and stop wherever you want. The drive is already mind blowing!! Inevitably, there are lots (lots!!) of people at the terminal, the wharf, on the boat and you have to accept this for what it is. But the captain, the commentary and the overall experience as far as Southern Discoveries are concerned was good.

This was a 10/10 experience. The Milford Sound had been on my bucket list for a very long time, and I couldn't be more happy that I booked with Southern Discoveries. Their Discover More Cruise was insanely beautiful and our dedicated guide Nick was very knowledgable and witty. Not only that, the coach bus on the way there was equally entertaining. Peter was insanely funny and extremely knowledgable as well, which made a 3.5 hour ride from Queenstown feel like it went by almost TOO quickly. And with Gope (spelling?) behind the wheel, I was really impressed. I couldn't imagine driving a huge bus through the beautiful albeit pretty narrow Milford Track, but he did it so well I never had a doubt in my mind that we would make it there in one piece. We also got extremely lucky and had a perfect, sunny day just after a rainy night, so the waterfalls were roaring with not a cloud in the sky. But from what I've hear, it is equally as beautiful in any kind of weather. The whole thing is a very long day, which you may want to keep in mind and plan ahead for, but an extremely rewarding one at that. Do yourself a favor and book with Southern Discoveries. They're the ones.

We had a great experience going on Milford Sound cruise with Southern Discoveries. We chose the option to be picked up and dropped off in Te Anau by a bus driver and also took the cruise. The bus driver was very friendly, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. He stopped at all the pull offs on the road and had great commentary about each attraction. We learned so much from him that we wouldn’t have known if we didn’t go on the bus ride. The cruise was incredible! The ship went out all the way to the Tasman Sea and got really close to the waterfall, both of which were the highlight for my husband and I. They also had unlimited free coffee on board. We are so happy that we chose Southern Discoveries!
