We keep things personal using our fleet of modern Mercedes vans. Enjoy your journey with no more than 16 people in a vehicle with premium features such as leather seats, panoramic scenic windows, Wi-Fi & Spotify playlists.
Let your Altitude Tours guide entertain you with their in-depth knowledge of the area. Enjoy many scenic photo stops at both famous locations, as well as our guide's favourite off-the-beaten-track spots.
Enjoy a 2-hour small uncrowded cruise while taking in the incredible beauty that Milford Sound has to offer! You can also add on a picnic lunch to enjoy onboard.
After your cruise, take in the views from above, on an incredible flight back to Queenstown over the Southern Alps.

Collapsible wheelchairs with removable wheels can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them board and disembark
Please bring walking shoes, warm clothes and a rain jacket.
The flight back is weather dependant and in the case where flights are cancelled due to weather, you will return to Queenstown by van and be refunded your flight portion of your ticket.
A packed picnic lunch is included. The default choice is chicken, however you can request a vegetarian lunch until 5pm the day prior.
Please bring a reusable waterbottle on tour with us. There are multiple locations to refill during the day.

What To Expect
Lake Wakatipu
Start your day by meeting our friendly local guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation. You'll travel in style in a premium Mercedes van designed for touring with only 16 seats onboard. The first leg of our journey to Milford Sound transports you from Queenstown through the picturesque Southland farming country and the charming town of Te Anau, where we'll make a brief stop by the lakeside for refreshments.
Lake Te Anau
Lake Te Anau is in the southwestern corner of the South Island of New Zealand. The lake covers an area of 344 km², making it the second-largest lake by surface area in New Zealand and the largest in the South Island. It is the largest lake in Australasia by fresh water volume.

5.00A wonderful day trip to Milford Sound. Early start, great small group and outstanding guide/driver in Chase who was so informative and fun. Many stops on the way- the scenery on route was breathtaking. All very smoothly organised. Great cruise on a small boat. And then we took the scenic flight home which was really great fun with Rob as the pilot in a very comfortable plane with every passenger (9 in total ) having a window seat. Strongly recommend this trip including the flight back.

5.00Have to be honest I had my doubts about a long drive , a boat and a small plane. I was wrong. The small coach was very comfortable and Allegra our driver was amazing ( her driving and local knowledge). We stopped lots of times and as we were a small party it was easy to jump off and on . The boat trip up Milford sound was lovely. We got assigned a super tiny plane for the return and I sat with the pilot. I’m not the greatest flyer but it was amazing and I’m glad we did it

5.00It was a beautiful and memorable day! Communication was excellent from the start. Thomas arrived at the pick up point right on time and was friendly, fun, and informative. He scheduled quite a few breathtaking stops along the way. The 2 hour cruise was very enjoyable especially being on a smaller boat with less passengers. And finally, the 40 minute scenic flight back was also spectacular. The entire day went smoothly and I am glad I chose to book with Altitude Tours. I would highly recommend them!

Chelsea made everyone feel comfortable and well looked after, and she handled the day with such ease and confidence. Every stop was thoughtfully timed, and she made sure we never felt rushed — just able to enjoy the stunning scenery and take it all in. The highlight came when I was unexpectedly upgraded to fly back. It was absolutely magical — breathtaking views of the mountains, lakes, and the fiord from above. It turned an already amazing day into something truly extraordinary. Truly worth it if you're considering an upgrade. Chelsea’s energy, care, and professionalism made this one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. 5.00Incredible trip with a perfect balance of driving, cruising, and flying! Each mode of transportation have different incredible views and perspectives of the gorgeous area from Queenstown to Milford sound. Our driver, Do, was amazing- fun and informative and caring. The day was delightful! Definitely worth the money and certainly memorable, once in a lifetime experience!

5.00Had a great day with beautiful scenery we looked!! Thomas our driver and guide was very kind and knowledgeable about the area and answered all of our questions. Our flight back to Queens Town was cancelled unfortunately due to the weather conditions, so we stayed with Thomas for the ride back, that did make it a very long day but still glad we did it.

5.00Milford Sound is must-see. Rainy conditions actually make it better because there are hundreds of waterfalls cascading off of the mountains and cliffs. Jono, our driver/guide, is the best guide that we have encountered over our many vacations. He is knowledgeable, engaging, and fun. He is also very effective and efficient in his core responsibilities. Even though the drive is very long, Jono's entertaining nature made it go by very quickly.
