We keep things personal using our fleet of modern Mercedes vans. Enjoy your journey with no more than 16 people in a vehicle with premium features such as leather seats, panoramic scenic windows, Wi-Fi & Spotify playlists.

Collapsible wheelchairs with removable wheels can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them board and disembark
Please bring walking shoes, warm clothes and a rain jacket.
The flight back is weather dependant and in the case where flights are cancelled due to weather, you will return to Queenstown by van and be refunded your flight portion of your ticket.
A packed picnic lunch is included. The default choice is chicken, however you can request a vegetarian lunch until 5pm the day prior.
Please bring a reusable waterbottle on tour with us. There are multiple locations to refill during the day.

What To Expect
Lake Wakatipu
Start your day by meeting our friendly local guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation. You'll travel in style in a premium Mercedes van designed for touring with only 16 seats onboard. The first leg of our journey to Milford Sound transports you from Queenstown through the picturesque Southland farming country and the charming town of Te Anau, where we'll make a brief stop by the lakeside for refreshments.

Lake Te Anau is in the southwestern corner of the South Island of New Zealand. The lake covers an area of 344 km², making it the second-largest lake by surface area in New Zealand and the largest in the South Island. It is the largest lake in Australasia by fresh water volume.

5.00Had a great day with beautiful scenery we looked!! Thomas our driver and guide was very kind and knowledgeable about the area and answered all of our questions. Our flight back to Queens Town was cancelled unfortunately due to the weather conditions, so we stayed with Thomas for the ride back, that did make it a very long day but still glad we did it.

5.00Milford Sound is must-see. Rainy conditions actually make it better because there are hundreds of waterfalls cascading off of the mountains and cliffs. Jono, our driver/guide, is the best guide that we have encountered over our many vacations. He is knowledgeable, engaging, and fun. He is also very effective and efficient in his core responsibilities. Even though the drive is very long, Jono's entertaining nature made it go by very quickly.

5.00I was traveling with my mother and sister in New Zealand, and we wanted to take a day from Queenstown to see Milford Sound. This tour was perfect. It was a small group (maybe 13 people total), and our tour guide Nicole was incredible. The drive up was relaxed while still being informative and captivating. Nicole talked about the areas we drove through, and stopped to help us take amazing pictures along the way. We opted for the flight back to Queenstown, and I would absolutely recommend it. It is a one-of-a-kind experience! The views were breathtaking, and the pilot made it feel extra special. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!

5.00We were really lucky with the weather, had a beautiful day but traveled with several customers who had been rescheduled. The team seemed really attentive to everyone's needs and worked hard to accommodate everyone. This was the highlight of our trip to NZ. Thanks to Andy for his expert driving! Our pilot was amazing also. Highly recommend the flight back to Queenstown if you can do it!

5.00Easy pickup, comfy van. Driver was very courteous and made all the requisite stops. Once we got to Milford he gave concise instructions about how to get to our boat. Stunning boat ride, comfortable indoor space with plenty of room outside to get some wind and sun.

1.00The tour guide was great. Lots of knowledge and he was very entertaining. The bus was comfortable with blankets provided. Would probably skip the chicken sandwich lunch given the price and probably just bought a something from the local cafe. Milford sound is amazing and highly recommended! Unfortunately our flight home was cancelled due to weather, which is completely welcome and the right decision. We were told that it is more common for the flight to be cancelled than flying. The disappointing part is that we are now in the middle of trying to get a refund for the flight portion. After multiple emails, Altitude Tours has wiped its hands of it and can’t do anything more for us apart from notify Trip Advisor that we didn’t fly. Tripadvisor has refunded some but not what is expected. We would not recommend this operator, especially when booking through trip advisor. We should have just booked a rental car and taken ourselves.

5.00Such a beautiful drive to Fiordland National Park and a lovely cruise through Milford Sound! Our tour guide, Andy, was wonderful and informative, patiently answering my husband’s endless questions about life in NZ. Our only disappointment was our flight back being cancelled due to strong winds, which made our day a bit longer than expected, but we’re so glad we did the tour. Not too shabby, Andy - thanks!
