Explore the natural wonders of Molokini Crater, a volcanic islet 3 miles (4.8 km) off the coast of Maui, on this snorkeling tour from Maalaea. Surrounded by clear tropical waters, this extinct cone is home to many species of marine life, such as fish, sea urchins, sharks, manta rays, and coral. Molokini is a marine preserve, meaning nothing can be disturbed, keeping the island and underwater environment pristine. You'll also explore Turtle Town, and admire native birds. Two water slides, a glass bottom viewing room, and a "leap of faith" are also available if you don't want to snorkel or finish early. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, soda, and juice are included.

What To Expect
A tour with the Calypso is one of the most fun on Maui! This stable, high-speed, triple-decker catamaran will get you to two snorkel sites fast: Molokini Crater and Turtle Town, and with all the equipment you need and plenty of food on board, what more could you ask for? The Calypso leaves from Ma’alaea Harbor, and after you are welcomed aboard by your friendly crew, you can take a look at the delicious continental breakfast. After everyone is settled in, it’s off to the most popular underwater destination in Maui for some Molokini snorkeling! While you are enjoying the feel of the ocean wind in your hair. Molokini Crater is located between the islands of Maui and Kaho’olawe. This beautiful site is not only home to several fish species, but many species of birds, as well! The crater is a designated Marine Life Conservation District and bird preserve, so no fishing or climbing on the crater is allowed, but wearing flippers and a mask to watch the fish is perfectly wonderful. After your Molokini snorkeling, Calypso will whisk you to Turtle Town – a second snorkeling spot. Off the south side of Maui, Turtle Town is home to several large sea turtles as well as dynamic reef fish.

4.00We had a great time on this snorkeling tour. The boat was spacious and comfortable, and we really appreciated the breakfast and lunch provided. The crew was friendly and helpful. That said, snorkeling at Molokini Crater was a bit underwhelming - there weren’t many fish or much variety, and the designated snorkeling area felt too small for the size of the group, so we often bumped into other swimmers. Still, the location itself was unique, and overall we enjoyed the experience.

5.00Great snorkeling experience! Molokini crater was unreal - gorgeous setting, coral, fish, and the bluest blue water I've ever seen. The food (breakfast, healthy veggie and hummus snack, and lunch) was plentiful and good. The reviewers who said there were no hot options for breakfast or lunch either didn't spot the hot breakfast (to be fair, it was near the coffee and not near the pastries and fruit) or got there late. Arrive early (by 6:20-6:30am) for good parking and choice seats on the Calypso. Really nice crew and nice boat. We loved the many entry chutes for getting in the water, the slides, and the high jump. Because of the surf advisory, we did not get to snorkel in Turtle Town - a bummer of course - but the crater was perfect - sheltered from the surf. We stayed longer at Molokini to make up for not getting to Turtle Town and that was fine by us. For those who are not great swimmers or who have younger kids, there are swim noodles and body boards with a window on them for viewing. Snorkel gear (mask, snorkel, fins) is provided for everyone. Wetsuit tops are available for $10 to rent. I had my 1.5mm wetsuit top and was glad to have it (August). We also opted in on the photo package and got some wonderful photos taken by a pro - thank you, Ryan!
