Explore the natural wonders of Molokini Crater, a volcanic islet 3 miles (4.8 km) off the coast of Maui, on this snorkeling tour from Maalaea. Surrounded by clear tropical waters, this extinct cone is home to many species of marine life, such as fish, sea urchins, sharks, manta rays, and coral. Molokini is a marine preserve, meaning nothing can be disturbed, keeping the island and underwater environment pristine. You'll also explore Turtle Town, and admire native birds. Two water slides, a glass bottom viewing room, and a "leap of faith" are also available if you don't want to snorkel or finish early. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, soda, and juice are included.

Wheelchair accessible. Motorized wheelchairs and electric scooters are not able to be accommodated. Manual wheelchairs are allowed up to a maximum width of 28". Personal weight restriction of approximately 280 pounds due to the ramp configuration and ability of crew to assist in boarding the wheelchair with the occupant.

What To Expect
A tour with the Calypso is one of the most fun on Maui! This stable, high-speed, triple-decker catamaran will get you to two snorkel sites fast: Molokini Crater and Turtle Town, and with all the equipment you need and plenty of food on board, what more could you ask for? The Calypso leaves from Ma’alaea Harbor, and after you are welcomed aboard by your friendly crew, you can take a look at the delicious continental breakfast. After everyone is settled in, it’s off to the most popular underwater destination in Maui for some Molokini snorkeling! While you are enjoying the feel of the ocean wind in your hair. Molokini Crater is located between the islands of Maui and Kaho’olawe. This beautiful site is not only home to several fish species, but many species of birds, as well! The crater is a designated Marine Life Conservation District and bird preserve, so no fishing or climbing on the crater is allowed, but wearing flippers and a mask to watch the fish is perfectly wonderful. After your Molokini snorkeling, Calypso will whisk you to Turtle Town – a second snorkeling spot. Off the south side of Maui, Turtle Town is home to several large sea turtles as well as dynamic reef fish.

4.00Everything on the boat was Nicely organized. The crew took care of every one and was very sweet. Was a little disappointed that we didn’t see any sea turtles. The fish we saw were beautiful but limited. We stopped at two places, molokini crater which is where all the fish were and turtle town, but didn’t see any turtles. We ended up seeing a lot of whales which was pretty cool. I probably wouldn’t book again but was a great experience

5.00Great half-day trip. Plenty of food, friendly staff. We stopped for whales. The $2 cocktails on the way home was a classy touch. Most operators would have overcharged their captive audience.

Disappointed to find out that due to the current we would not be able to stop at Molokini, which was the biggest thing I was looking forward to on this trip. Wish the crew would have told us upfront and offered a refund prior to leaving the dock and announcing upon arrival that they were just going straight to Turtle Town. Breakfast was good, lunch was average and they threw in free drinks. They spent the rest of the time looking for whales, which was exciting for some of the guests, but we had already been on an eco-raft whale excision earlier in the week and it was beyond amazing. There was another boat at the crater all day. I guess overall I would rate it a 7/10.

2.00If you are looking for a party boat or have kids you should book this excursion. If you are looking to snorkel you should avoid it. The boat has good food, slides, drinks, and fun but they routinely don’t take you to the crater to Snorkel. The alternate location we were taken to had three turtles, but hardly anything else to look at. This may be our only trip to Maui and to miss the crater was a huge disappointment. I saw other boats there while ours decided not to go. If you really want to go to the crater book elsewhere

5.00We started with a double rainbow! Even with it being a rainy day, we were still able to snorkel at Turtle Town and though we couldn’t go to Molokini, the alternate destination was nice. Turtles, fish, and colorful reef could be seen. Whales could be seen almost the entire time from almost any direction you looked. The Calypso Crew was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this trip.

5.00I highly recommend the Calypso snorkeling trip. The crew is very helpful and friendly. The boat is top notch with lots of room for seating. There are many ladders in back with double railings to make it easy to get in and out of the water. The hot breakfast and lunch were excellent. This is the best snorkeling charter I have been on in the world.
