Warm and welcoming wine experience in the heart of nature and the calmness of the St. Cosmas and Damian Monastery.
We invite you to visit our beautiful winery and savor some of the best wines from estate’s portfolio, paired with local products from Macedonia’s fields.
During the wine tasting, the guide will explain the traditional philosophy and criteria behind the making of our vintages.
A well explained visit at the monastery of St. Cosmas and Damian is also included in the trip, along with a walk around the winery and cellar.
Organized transfer from your accommodation to the winery and back is included in the tour price.

What To Expect
Monastery Winery
Our accredited personnel will welcome you at the entrance of the winery and will accompany you to the wine cellar. After the winery tour you will start with degustation at the winery terrace or inside the lounge. Visit of the monastery is optional for those who prefer to take a look.

5.00Don’t miss this winery! We met the wine maker and had a fabulous time here. Great wine too and we have been to many wineries around the world! Very personably and so interesting. Highly recommend! Beautiful location too

5.00It was a great experience. The pick up from the centre of Ohrid was easy to arrange, the drivers was lovely. The setting of the winery was great and the food platter was great. I requested a vegan platter for 1 friend and they accommodated this. The man who told us about the wines was interesting and we tried 5 wines and a rakia. We had a lift back to Ohrid. The tour was interesting too. Would recommend!!

5.00Beautiful surroundings , old building. Tasteful wines. We tasted two white wines, one rose and two reds. First we tasted raki and for dessert berry liquor. And we had also tapas plate. And the guide told us about wine making. They were very friendly and spoke good English. I recommend that.

5.00Absolutely amazing! Our driver, Stefan, was lovely, funny and really informative. The monastery and winery are so beautiful, and the resident pups were a special treat too. The tour was fantastic, the young men working there were really informative, friendly and warm. The drinks were fantastic, we started out with some Raki, then on our tour of the winery and distillery we sampled the 78% raki, and then tried 2 white wines, a rose and 2 reds, with an additional wine sample for free in the end as well as a sample of their homemade pink gin. Every drink was delicious and the service was immaculate, they asked about dietary needs and we informed them that one member of our party was vegetarian and they arranged the charcuterie board to keep the meats separate and provided more cheeses. Genuinely the highlight of our trip to Ohrid!!

5.00My visit to Monastery Winery in Openica was an unforgettable experience! The location in the middle of nature, near Ohrid, offers a quiet and beautiful environment, perfect for relaxing. The wine was excellent – with an intense aroma and a lot of character. I was particularly impressed by the traditional meat dish under the bell (pod sach) – tender, juicy and incredibly delicious. The appetizers and side dishes also went perfectly with it. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive and took a lot of time to explain the different wines and their production. The combination of great atmosphere, delicious food and excellent wine makes this winery a real insider tip in the Ohrid region. I can highly recommend a visit here!
