As one of the only places in the world to whale watch year-round, Monterey Bay is abundant with a huge diversity of sea life, and is at the top of many things to do in Monterey. As a protected marine sanctuary rich with nutrients, the Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon thrives with a bounty of breathtaking wildlife including Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Gray Whales, Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, Risso Dolphins, Long Beaked Common Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, Dall’s Porpoise, Mola Mola aka Ocean Sunfish, Jellyfish, Sea Turtles, Sea Lions, Pelicans, Sea Otters and so much more! Board the 2 largest boats in the Monterey fleet the 110ft. Princess Monterey and the 100ft Atlantis Monterey. Limited VIP upper deck seating optional upgrade for an additional charge of $20 per person at time of check in if space is available.

5.00Today I went whale watching in Monterey, and it turned into one of the most unforgettable experiences. I saw gray whales calmly surfacing and diving, but the highlight was spotting an orca—even if just for a second. Seeing that tall dorsal fin and its distinctive saddle patch in real life was incredible. I was so excited I couldn’t stop cheering. It made me realize how special it is to witness wildlife in their natural habitat. Even though sightings were limited, I felt incredibly lucky and happy. Definitely worth it, and I would love to go again someday.

5.00The captain drove us exactly where the orcas were! We saw a whole pod- it was amazing! The naturalist was able to answer all our questions! So glad we did this!

5.00We had a wonderful experience with Mountain View Whale Watching. What stood out the most was how incredibly attentive and thoughtful the crew and staff were. They truly made our trip enjoyable from start to finish. They took great care of every passenger and made sure everyone felt comfortable and well looked after. The explanations throughout the trip were also excellent—clear, engaging, and delivered with genuine care. You can tell the team is passionate about what they do. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend!

5.00We had a wonderful time seeing humpback whales on our whale watching tour. The staff were very friendly and I enjoyed all the facts I learned from the naturalist giving the tour. We also saw sea otters and sea lions on our tour, and we got great views of the bay!

5.00We had a fantastic experience, despite half the family being seasick. The crew was well equipped and were very helpful. The guide was very knowledgeable. The captain was good about getting us close enough for viewing and far enough to allow the animals their space.

5.00It was a fantastic experience. People at the ticket sales help you great. The people on board are also super friendly. They tell a lot in between about the species you see with the occasional joke in between. I would rejoin their books to make a tour.

4.00Enjoyed the trip but just wish I could have heard what the guide was saying - most of his talk was too quiet. Maybe it was due to the choppy sea and wind. Would also have liked a bit more explanation of their plan at some points - it felt in the end like they were just heading out killing time a bit but they may have had a purpose. Or maybe they did explain but we just couldn’t hear it. Having said all that we did see some whales which was incredible so they did their job

5.00We had a wonderful time on the 9 am tour. Our naturalist Kristen informed us of many of the different species of animals that we passed on our way out to see the whales. It was a great experience all around. We opted for the VIP viewing on the top level of the boat and it was well worth the extra cost.
