Arrive at iFLY Montgomery, and get started by putting on your gear and going through a specialized training session from an expert flight instructor. You’ll learn how to safely float in an 800-horsepower vertical wind tunnel that generates a wall-to-wall cushion of air - commonly used by professional skydivers - without having to jump from a plane. Just about anyone can fly, and no experience is necessary. Once you're inside the enclosed space of the flight chamber, a tunnel operator slowly increases the wind speed until you and your instructor are airborne. Feel the adrenaline rush as you float at wind speeds reaching 130 to 175 mph (209 to 282 kph). The stable wall-to-wall airflow keeps you from falling off the column of air, and your instructor is on hand at all times to guide you. The entire iFLY first-time flyer experience takes about 75 minutes from start to finish. Each session includes up to six people, but you fly one-on-one with your instructor for 60 seconds in the wind tunnel twice.

Wayne was awesome! He was knowledgeable, fun and made us feel safe! The joy of flying is something that you have to experience for yourself. No words can truly explain the feeling you get!! Very cool!!

My wife and I came here a couple weeks ago. When we were done, we explained to out flight instructor that we wanted to get passes to bring each of our kids over the next few months. The instructor told us to buy a pass. We did. We booked for my daughter and came back with her. They informed us we had bought a pass that could only be used one time. We paid for 10 flights and got 3. They riipped us off. The General Manager Heidi said there was nothing she could do. They have a pass for 5 flights that does exactly what we needed. She could have reimbursed the purchase and then allowed us to buy that one. She could have let my daughter fly this time and given us 4 vouchers for our other children. She could have let my daughter fly and told us to just bring all of the other next time and cancelled the voucher on this one. There is a difference between a business and a business leader who thinks to solve issues and a business and leader that just says "there is nothing we can do" when they mess up. Heide and ifly Montgomery is the latter not the former.

I had always wanted to sky dive.... The virtual reality option made it even more like it. Overall though, this was really fun. More physically engaged than expected, but 3 cute little, little boys also were in our class, so hey, we were fine. Super-nice instructors, really, really safe, souvenir photos in our package - definitely recommend this experience.

Two of my friends and I purchased Groupons for two 1-minute flights at iFLY a month or two ago and finally got around to using it. Check-in was a breeze and we spent a while watching other flyers. Joe, our flight instructor, was very enthusiastic which was catching. After getting us geared up he gave us all the first-timers instructions and the golden rule - RELAX! Joe was great with everyone in the tunnel and had most of us turning and going forward and back in just our two minutes of flight. It was definitely more fun than I expected, and all three of us purchased vouchers for more flights because we are definitely coming back (to fly with Joe). Some questions that I had before doing this: 1. Is it loud? Yes, but not uncomfortably so. They give you earplugs to use and I was very comfortable with those in. 2. How do they tell you what to do? Hand signals! 3. It is scary? No. I was mildly apprehensive before I went in, but you completely forget about that once you are inside. 4. Can friends/family come and watch? YES! And have them take pictures. Joe made sure to aim the flyers at the cameras for good pictures. (you can also buy their pictures and videos of your flights). 5. It's expensive, is it worth it? Yes, at least for two flights. One flight to get comfortable, and the second flight to get hooked!

So, I have to start off by saying I hated this activity! I'm 50+, overweight, and out of shape and felt like a cheap umbrella in a wind storm.... BUT... if you are young and in shape, it's a blast! The staff is very friendly and professional, the facilities were clean and well cared for and I so enjoyed watching Lydia show us her stuff! Even though this "wasnt for me" I still highly recommend it!
