The tour at the Monserrat Monastery was one that I shouldn’t miss because I was able to see the Black Madonna and the place where it originally appeared. The total 5 hours spent on the tour was just enough to have that memorable experience. Pablo our tour guide was punctual and very knowledgeable about the legend of the Black Madonna and also very informative about the history of the monastery and its current state. His travel experiences abroad has a big impact on his career as a tour guide. As a whole, I would rate the tour and Pablo an A+!!!

We love Montserrat but we expected a tour guide and not just a driver. We booked for 8:30 months in advance but we're told at last minute that pickup is at 8:00 am due to some activity. We got a scowl and scolding for not being on time (8:00). Anyway, we enjoyed Montserrat by ourselves. We still tipped our driver generously despite the lack of a service of a guide but would have doubled or tripled the tip had we gotten a great service.

Alejandro took us on an expert tour of Montserrat. He was knowledgeable of the history, the architecture, the landscape, and the surrounding area. He made the tour fun for our school-aged kids. He was personable, and easy to talk to. We had an unforgettable morning touring this beautiful place. He took some great pictures of our family, too.

Our guide Javi took such good care of us, going above and beyond to make sure our experience was wonderful. Monserrat is a must see while you’re in Barcelona and this tour experience was phenomenal. The scenery around the monastery is breathtaking.

The guided tour was not really a guided tour. The guide had our group stand outside in the plaza and then pointed to each building and explained what functions it served. The “guided tour” lasted maybe 30 minutes, if that, while the remainder and majority of the time was left to each member of the group. I spent my personal time to take the Sant Joan funicular and then to hike to Sant Jeroni.
