Our wonderful Tour Guide (Travis) was knowledgeable and friendly with stories and information on the customs, language and traditions of the Navajo people. Besides guiding us to see the monuments he demonstrated his musical talent with flute, drum and voice. This tour was a lovely experience and taught appreciation for the Navajo people and their cultural.

Absolutely loved the trip. You can see so many more things that just the self driving tour. Things are explained better. Views are fantastic. Followed up with the Mystery Valley tour also. Sandrea explained how the formations are formed better and more simply that I've ever heard. Respect for her heritage and explaining the stories was very interesting.

An unforgettable moment accompanied by Sandrea our guide! Kind, funny and takes the time to explain what you see on the way in a wonderful way. Visiting the hinterland is really worthwhile, the scenery is breathtaking, we felt like we didn’t have enough eyes to admire everything at the same time. If you hesitate to book this is your sign of doing so, you will not regret it!

This is an outstanding tour that goes far beyond what you can experience exploring Monument Valley on your own. Our guide, Larry, is a master storyteller—not only in geology and both ancient and modern history, but also in photography composition. Through him, I felt a genuine connection to Navajo traditions. Larry led us along the Scenic Route, covering the iconic monuments while also taking us to lesser-visited sites and hidden arches within the park. One of the highlights for me was a visit to an ancient petroglyph site. Standing beneath the carvings, he shared, in his rich and captivating voice, the story of Navajo and Anasazi encounters—it was unforgettable. At one of the arches, he added another special touch by playing soft Native American flute music, which created a truly magical moment. In addition, Larry is exceptional when it comes to photography. With his guidance and practical tips, my photos gained both depth and meaning. He was always attentive and eager to help. This was a fabulous and unforgettable tour.

Larry was exactly what we were looking for your guide wise. Great knowledge on the geology, spirituality, history and archeology. Great attitude, we had a blast. His flute playing at the ceremonial locations was epic!

Larry was a phenomenal tour guide, we spent both the morning and afternoon with him and his tour was a major highlight of our trip. His knowledge and willingness to share the history of the area and the Navajo people was something special. He gave us enough time at each site and even helped us take pictures. He knew some of the best spots and the afternoon tour felt much more secluded and undisturbed. Would highly recommend scheduling with Larry if possible!

We took the Monument Valley Sunset tour yesterday afternoon, and we also signed up for the Monument Valley Extended Backcountry tour, not realizing that both this tour and yesterday's sunset tour were almost identical. Our guide was Larry again, and he was concerned that we wouldn't enjoy today's tour. Monument Valley is so spectacular that we could spend time there many days! Our group today consisted of four couples, and we again rode on seats in the back of a flatbed truck. Luckily the seats are padded, because the roads are very bumpy. Also, I would advise wearing a hooded garment that you can cover your ears and neck. And, do not wear contact lenses. There is almost constant dust and sand blowing back at us. We stopped at many of the monuments, and Larry gave enough time to hear his information and to take photos. We also had time to walk around. The one difference with this extended tour was the addition of a visit to a Hogan village. Larry showed us how the hogans were built and the difference in hogans in history. We were invited into one larger hogan where a Navajo woman demonstrated the steps of making yarn. She also told us what her life is like on the Reservation, and how her grandchildren act when they stay with her, with no television. She was very interesting and answered our questions. We again enjoyed Larry's guiding. He was informative in an interesting way and he was helpful. We again really enjoyed his flute playing. We would highly recommend the Backcountry Extended Tour.
