If originating from Torrey, Utah, we start with a drive thru the front country of Capitol Reef National Park. See the historic town of Freemont. Most likely we will see the current residents (a band of wild Mule deer). We will discuss the geology spanning the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
Factory Butte
Rising from the grey landscape is the iconic Factory Butte. Get out your camera to snap a picture of this Giant. It truly is stunning.

5.00We had an awesome experience with Sam. Sam was knowledgeable about the area, provided key insights as we traveled and was very accommodating, helpful and fun to talk with. Our first stop was Moonscape Overlook and Sam gave us a lot of time to take photos, even pointing out specific framing for photos. We also traveled to the Bentonite Hills and Sam provided information about how these were formed. We also got a special surprise in the fossil beds, which was a delight to see (you have to go with him to see it!) We had a wonderful and fun experience. We would absolutely book a tour with Sam again.

5.00Absolute wonderful experience. Sam had experience, personality, information, affability and so fun to talk with and learn from. Best guide service ever and we've had a few. Sam took us to photographic sites we would never have been able to reach on our own. He had a couple of unexpected but wonderful surprises for us along the way. His recommendations led us to both a wonderful motel and the best meal we've had in years. Get him to tell you his scorpion and his wildlife survival training stories. So much fun. Worth every penny! BTW, his specially rigged vehicle was comfortable, not a bouncy jeep like we expected. Kudos to Sam!

5.00We had a great time with Sam. We were able to see the sunrise at Moonscape! We pulled up just as the sun was starting to crest on the horizon. Sam was very knowledgable about the area, landscape, plants, and geology. Our personalities couldn't have paired better and we had a great time swapping stories.
