The Moose is quite shy and is easily scared back into the woods, but normally they are quite co-operative and allow us to get quite near. We know the habits and life of the moose and where we have the best chances to see them.
Elg - the moose is called Elg in Norway, but the moose is not comparable with the american elk. The elk (cervus canadensis) , however, is an entirely different deer (much smaller).
Largest in Europe - the moose is Europes largest land animal, also the largest member in the deer family. A fully grown bull are over 2 meters high at the shoulders and weighs up to 750 kg (1650 lb). Cows seldom weighs more than 470 kg (1035 lb).
Saltstraumen: The moose safari trip will also include a stop by Saltstraumen, the strongest maelstrom in the world. You can walk the bridge and look down in to the powerful whirlpools.

The trip was very impressive and we could see some moose, a reindeer and also the saltstraumen. Our guide told us about the tidal current and how it works. In the settlement along the sea we could get out again and again when we saw moose. Field engravers were also present when we saw some specimens from afar. Worthwhile

We went on this moose safari last Thursday and it was incredible! We started out with a little tour of Bodø’s surrounding nature including Saltstraumen while waiting for the moose to come out of the forest. The later it got the more moose we saw and our two guides kept it going although it was most likely way past the normal end time. In total we saw around 30 moose including two babies, a couple of deer and three young foxes. This is probably the coolest thing to do in Bodø, I cannot recommend it enough!

It was an incredible experience. The weather was perfect, our guide, Ivar, was incredible and we saw not only mooses but also foxes, birds and the midnight sun. The sighting of mosses is moreover guaranteed according to the company's motto: “No moose seen, no pay”. Our guide Ivar also took us to various photo spots and told us a lot about the area and its traditions. We can recommend this safari without exception.

What an unforgettable adventure! On our way to a family reunion in Værøy, we met up in Bodø and decided to join a moose safari—five of us signed up, and we’re so glad we did. We saw nearly 20 moose, several deer, four adorable baby foxes, and even a random cow that made us all laugh. Our guide was not only a passionate nature lover but also incredibly knowledgeable, adding depth and excitement to the entire experience. To top it all off, he shared some amazing photos he’d taken during the safari, which made it even more special. If I could give it 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat!

He brought us around to different scenic views and knew just where to go at the right times to make the most of our trip. We saw 18 moose in total and even some adorable foxes!

I had two tours with Ivar. One elk-safari and the canoe trip (which doesn't seem to be on TripAdvisor) and both were awesome. He is definitely one of the more chatty and "energetic" Norwegians I've met during my time in Norway and knows a lot about the area, plants, birds and land animals. He's also very flexible and adjusts the plan/trip to what the group need/wants with great patience. On the safari we saw a lot of elks, sadly none of them super close but that's nature. We also did a few stops if ppl wanted to take pictures of the landscape in general and had a stop at Saltstraumen. The canoe trip was very lovely too; very calm and relaxing and he showed me a rare duck nesting on the lake (with appropriate distance ofc, to not disturb the mom). On that note: Go book a canoe trip! It's really not hard at all and canoes are pretty stable, no need to be scared. It's fun! :)
