We leave early around 7:30am-7:45am from your chosen Morondava hotel to visit the wildlife and wilderness in the forest of Kirindy. Arriving in the forest, we make a 4-hour visit to admire the fauna and flora typical of the rich remote reserve. We move by vehicle and by foot to spot the endemic animals and plants of Kirindy, from the large cats ("fossa") that prey on lemurs throughout Madagascar, to the spiny and strange plants that look dropped out of Dr. Seuss into the desert landscape. The animals here are 80% only-on-Madagascar endemics or endangered, and your guide will explain the ecological history of the area. The Kirindy Reserve is a dry forest. In the reserve, there are many birds, fossas, lemurs, and sifaka. We can find young rosewood, one of the precious woods in Madagascar that is today under perilous illegal export to China and undergoing massive illegal logging on the opposite side of the island. Up to 4-hours are spent exploring the forest, driving and walking among natural spotting or scenic spots. We stop for a 90-minute break for lunch (at your own expense) in a pleasant setting in Kirindy at Camps Amoreux, or if closed for the day, the Relais de Kirindy or Kirindy Park restaurant. This is one of the more remote, but pleasant places, to have a bite in Mada, smack in the middle of a remote national park. After lunch, we head to the legendary Baobab Avenue's main and famous corridor, to admire the ancient and bizarre trees you've seen in books about Madagascar. We drive through the alley to different views and clusters of hundreds of otherworldly trees that cultures from Madagascar and even around the world find sacred. Moving on to visit the often-painted and carved "baobabs in love" (Baobab Lovers) the iconic 2 trees twined in an embrace, and then end on the far stretch of the alley of the baobabs which are an iconic image of Madagascar. We admire the sunset in this beautiful alley adorned by giant centennial trees. We spend a total of about 2.5 hours transitting by vehicle between the different corners of Baobab Avenue. Finally, we return to Morondava after one of the most photogenic sunsets you can ever get, anywhere! We arrive back at your hotel after the photogenic sunset at the alley at around 7:30pm.

The visit to the Avenue of the Baobabs was absolutely magical, especially at sunset when the golden light made everything glow. The giant baobabs truly felt like guardians of Madagascar’s spirit. Then, in Kirindy Forest, we experienced the wild side of nature — spotting lemurs, chameleons, and even hearing the sounds of the forest at night. The guide made the journey unforgettable with great explanations and warm hospitality. This experience gave us a deep connection with Madagascar’s nature and culture — a trip we’ll never forget!

It was un unforgetable experience especially due to the double visit (mosning and sunset hour) to the Baobab Avenue. The experience with the lemurs was also great. The only negative thing was the extreamelly high cost of the tour.

The views were amazing! We took so many photos of the baobab trees. Love the vibe and ambiance there. The guide Heri is professional and a great photographer too. Enchanting moments were taken for us

Long, hot, super bumpy road tour but in the end, it was really worth it. Kirindy was hot and the road to get there was crazy bumpy all the way, nonstop, up and down. We got to see the baobab avenue twice, on the way to kirindy and at sunset. Our tour was excellent and our guide Feena (I don’t know how to spell his name) was amazing, caring and updated us about the program, things we may want to look, take pictures of, he was very attentive and I really appreciated his care.

What an incredible day! Avenue of the Baobabs is incredible both during the daylight and at sunset when it’s a bit more busy. It’s no secret that this iconic part of Madagascar boasts incredible sunset visuals. The road to Kirindy is long and not well kept, but in Kirindy we were able to see the Fossa, many lemurs, chameleons and multiple species of birds. I think it’s worth the money to not have to navigate the road. Had a wonderful guide named Andu. He was patient, made stops whenever we needed, allowed us to stay a little late after sunset at the Ave, and dropped us off at a Malagasy restaurant he recommended close to our hotel.

The guide, Theo, is very nice and helpful, but I think it would be better just renting a hotel close to the park and do the same tour during the day. Moreover, I believe that if you stay in the hotel, you can also do tour at night and see different animals. Anyway, no complaints at all concerning this tour.

We booked this tour from home and had good communication prior to arriving as to our hotel (which was not listed on the site, but they picked us up from). This was a private tour. Our guide stopped by our hotel the day before to touch base. We left at 7 am and were given as much time as we wanted at Avenue of Baobabs. Guide provided info on trees. Roads are tough. Took 2.5 hours to travel 40 km. Not good if you have a small bladder. Kirindy forest and different guide who was excellent. We saw Lemurs close up. Lunch was at Kirindy Lodge. 2 hours there. Could have had a swim if we knew to bring bathing suits. Back to Baobabs for sunset. 2 hours there to wait. Loved our day! Andrew was a good driver. Bring/wear: long pants, close toed shoes, bathing suit, mosquito repellent, water, cash, candies for local kids at love Baobab.
