Mezquita Cathedral de Cordoba
Guided Tour to the most outstanding monument of Cordoba, the Mosque-Cathedral. It has been declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The Guided Tour performed by expert historians, will lead you through an alive temple that has been witness to numerous historical events. It will not leave you indifferent. We will explain the different stages of construction, starting from the remains of the old Visigothic basilica of San Vicente that are still preserved. We will follow the Guided Tour to the old mosque that was built by Emir Abderraman I and the following expansions until the Almanzor period. After the conquest of the city by the Christian army the Mosque became Cathedral and occupied several warehouses due to the enlargement of the Caliph Al-Hakam II for liturgical celebrations. Later on, the existing transept of the Cathedral was built.

The highlight was of course the breathtaking artistry and architectural genius of the Moors who built this magnificent monument. Every detail tells a powerful story of history, culture, and coexistence that left us truly amazed. What made this tour exceptional, however, was our outstanding tour guide, whose last name is Salamantas. His vast knowledge, clear explanations, and deep passion for the subject brought the monument to life. Beyond history, his philosophy, kindness, and respect for different cultures are exactly what our world needs more of today. He guided with heart, wisdom, and genuine humanity, which made the experience even more meaningful. Córdoba itself reminded us strongly of my wife’s hometown in Morocco, Chefchaouen, with its soulful atmosphere and beautiful blend of cultures. This tour was inspiring, educational, and unforgettable. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Córdoba.
