What To Expect
Mezquita Cathedral de Cordoba
Guided Tour to the most outstanding monument of Cordoba, the Mosque-Cathedral. It has been declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The Guided Tour performed by expert historians, will lead you through an alive temple that has been witness to numerous historical events. It will not leave you indifferent. We will explain the different stages of construction, starting from the remains of the old Visigothic basilica of San Vicente that are still preserved. We will follow the Guided Tour to the old mosque that was built by Emir Abderraman I and the following expansions until the Almanzor period. After the conquest of the city by the Christian army the Mosque became Cathedral and occupied several warehouses due to the enlargement of the Caliph Al-Hakam II for liturgical celebrations. Later on, the existing transept of the Cathedral was built.

5.00The Mezquita de Cordoba is absolutely amazing; this was a very worthwhile tour and Rebecca our tour guide made it a fun and educational experience. She provided a great historical perspective and also shared some fun facts about Cordoba and the Mezquita. Taking a tour of the Mezquita is a must if you are visiting Cordoba.

5.00You must go inside the mosque-cathedral when in Cordoba. Doing so with a guide taught us so much. This was our favorite site and tour during our trip to southern Spain. Make sure your camera battery is charged- lots of photos will be taken. We did an English language tour in mid March- our guide had an accent but that wasn’t a problem. She was very Informative and funny too. Ask for Maria. Her visual aids will help you understand the immense history you will see. Highly recommend. PS: if there are art vendors selling their art outside of the mosque-cathedral, buy anything you want at the time you see it. Once you gone back, all will be gone. Enjoy!
