Mezquita Cathedral de Cordoba
Guided Tour to the most outstanding monument of Cordoba, the Mosque-Cathedral. It has been declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The Guided Tour performed by expert historians, will lead you through an alive temple that has been witness to numerous historical events. It will not leave you indifferent. We will explain the different stages of construction, starting from the remains of the old Visigothic basilica of San Vicente that are still preserved. We will follow the Guided Tour to the old mosque that was built by Emir Abderraman I and the following expansions until the Almanzor period. After the conquest of the city by the Christian army the Mosque became Cathedral and occupied several warehouses due to the enlargement of the Caliph Al-Hakam II for liturgical celebrations. Later on, the existing transept of the Cathedral was built.

I will start by admitting that the tour with Ana was informative and enriching in terms of history and architecture BUT the biggest problem was that she showed a discriminating attitude towards muslims where she was explaining for example how muslims did to ‘us’ as she referred to christians today, and that makes the muslims taking the tour with her feel discriminated against as if their religion is responsible for all the suffering felt by the christians today and in the past. This is a bad attitude to have when you have a job as a tourist guide because you should welcome everyone and not make them feel discriminated against, especially that respect goes both ways, the freedom of each person stops when you touch the freedom of someone else, it’s a shame to see people discriminating each other for whatever reason in 2026. I hope Ana reads this review and adjusts her reciting towards her audience because I don’t think she would be ok if muslims started to disrespect the holy building we are into, which is why she needs to be more respectful towards others. Thank you anyway for the tour, we learned a lot !

Our guide spoke perfect English which made the tour easy to understand. She was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The mosque and cathedral were just as beautiful as pictured. Very enjoyable experience.

Ana was a great guide for our large group tour but unfortunately the equipment (microphone and earpiece) was horrible. Would not book again unless they have new equipment! Unfortunate situation for our guide, Ana, who did her best under the circumstances.

Our guide, Patricia, was truly exceptional! Clearly had a very in-depth understanding of both the history and architecture of the buildings and was able successfully convey that information in an interesting and entertaining manner.

We were impressed with the scale of the arched building and amazed at the presence of a cathedral in the middle. The contrast in architectural and decorative styles is striking. It was very busy with visitors and we were occasionally swept along on tides of walking groups but we’re still able to find quiet seating areas to reflect and plan. Great photo opportunities.

Really interesting tour, guide was very knowledgeable and passionate with excellent English. I recommend this tour. (Note the meeting point is outside the gate - I missed the start of the tour as I couldn't find it, although everyone else managed!)
