Mezquita Cathedral de Cordoba
Guided Tour to the most outstanding monument of Cordoba, the Mosque-Cathedral. It has been declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The Guided Tour performed by expert historians, will lead you through an alive temple that has been witness to numerous historical events. It will not leave you indifferent. We will explain the different stages of construction, starting from the remains of the old Visigothic basilica of San Vicente that are still preserved. We will follow the Guided Tour to the old mosque that was built by Emir Abderraman I and the following expansions until the Almanzor period. After the conquest of the city by the Christian army the Mosque became Cathedral and occupied several warehouses due to the enlargement of the Caliph Al-Hakam II for liturgical celebrations. Later on, the existing transept of the Cathedral was built.

The whole story of the Mosque and then the Catholic Cathedral was very interesting. How most of the Mosque was conserved while changing to a Catholic Church and ultimately a cathedral. Our tour guide Fatima did a great job of bringing the history and the construction details to life. The only complaint is that you are unable to remain inside to explore further.

One of the most outstanding experiences of our life- it was due to the monument itself & our guide Patricia Guarnizo.

This was a large group tour. The Cathedral was extremely crowded so it was hard to follow the guide. The audio equipment didn’t work very well, it kept cutting in and out. The guide had a thick accent and was hard to understand

The guide was incredible. There were many visitors to the site but it is so large that it didnt feel too crowded. Stunningly beautiful and unique mosque. The cathedral built within at a later date looks like many others in spain and was an unusual placement. The guide provided an excellent historical background to the development of the culture and structure. The tour was well timed with additional time provided at the end if you wanted to linger a little longer.

A must do to visit the Mezquita with a guide. We had a wonderful and informative tour from our guide (Fatima) who has sent archaeology, and is also an art historian. She also works as an English interpreter and was very well understood. That leaves something to be desired.

Well worth visiting. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We would have preferred he gave slightly less information and delivered it a bit slower as so much to take in.
