Mount Agung Sunrise trekking is the harder and challenging one sunrise trekking in Bali you might put on your List from of you trekking tour while holiday in Bali. There are two common hiking routes up the mountain, which you will need to choose between.

1. Mount Agung Hike via Besakih Temple.

The most challenging and rewarding route for hiking up Mount Agung. The hike from Besakih Temple, also called Pengubengan Starting point. You'll be hiking through the dense jungle and ascent will take approximately 6 hours, and ends at 3,142 m point of the mountain.

2. Mount Agung Hike via Pasar Agung Temple.

This is an easier, 3-4 hour hike in which you will ascend about 2,000 meters. It's less challenging route and up point about 100 meters below the actual summit, but the views are still excellent in all directions, as well as down into the crater.

There are two starting point you cab choose, one via Besakih Temple and the other one via Pasar Agung Temple. VIA BESAKIH TEMPLE ITINERARY: 20.30 – 21.30 pm: Pick up in your villa/ hotel. 21.45 pm – Reaching the starting point. 22.00 m – Start your trek, 6 hours to the top. 05.50 m – Arrive at the top enjoying sunrise & having breakfast. 07.00 am – Began your descend to car park. 11.30 am – Arrive back at car park and then back to your hotel. 13.00 pm – reaching your hotel. VIA PASAR AGUNG TEMPLE ITINERARY: 23.30 pm – 00.00 am: Pick up in your villa/ hotel 01.45 am – Reaching the starting point 02.00 am – Start your trek, 4 hours to the top. 05.50 am – Arrive at the top enjoying sunrise & having breakfast. 07.00 am – Began your descend to car park 10.30 am – Arrive back at car park,back to your hotel. 12.00 pm – reaching your hotel.

We booked the trek just a few hours before its start, so we appreciate quick communication and great service on such a short notice. The trek was not an easy one, but our guide Rudi made sure we enjoyed it to the fullest. He made us coffee by the fire before the last part of the trek, so instead of freezing on the top and waiting for the sunrise for too long, we could enjoy a bit of warmth. Rudi and the driver Made took a great care of us and we had a lovely time. I would go again, the views are simply spectacular and it is not as crowded as other volcanoes.

We had a great experience hiking Mount Agung. Our driver Putu and our guide Ketut took very good care of us before, during and after the hike. Though it was very foggy and windy, we didn’t feel unsafe as Ketut was very cautious and repeatedly checked in to see if we were comfortable. It was also interesting to see the offerings and prayers that our guide made at each stop, and to learn about the religious aspect of the volcano. Though the weather didn’t allow us to enjoy the sunrise at the top, we had a very rewarding hike!:)

Great trip up Mt. Agung! Appreciate that Mt. Batur Sunrise Trekking was able to put my trek together on very short notice. I only booked about 6hrs prior to pickup. They communicated via WhatsApp and were able to confirm details, which was great with the short turnaround time. The provided guide was nonsense, and hiked quickly…which I really appreciated. He was attuned to my hiking speed and mindful to not get us on the exposed top too early. Do note; there are separate trips for the peak vs crater viewpoint.

Was an absolutely awesome experience, making it to the summit of Agung makes the hike up well worth it and would highly recommend it!! Mount Batur sunrise trekking is who we went with and besides a minor communication breakdown on the dates we were very happy with them. The drive was early/on time and was happy to talk with us or let us sleep. The guide was a very positive person and even set up a little camp fire for us just before the final 30 mins of the walk. We went up with minimal training but are also fairly fit 20 year olds, if older or not in the best shape I would highly recommend training before the hike.
