  • Cool experience but HARD HIKE!

This tour overall was great but the hike is HARD, so be prepared. I go hiking all the time in Los Angeles, so I didn't expect to have so much trouble. It's about 1.5-2hrs up the mountain, almost rock climbing at points. It's very steep and slippery, so I would recommend hiking shoes (I was just wearing my normal running shoes). That being said, our tour guide, Man, was SO helpful. He encouraged us all the way up, took photos for us at the top (and had some snacks for us too), and then called a motorcycle taxi for us to take back down (we decided it would be easier than hiking back down in the dark). Our driver to/from our hotel, Aji, was also great! Very nice and let us stop for snacks on the long drive back :)

Konami raja was an awesome tour guide. We had a great time hiking up and down, especially with the good music. Mangku sarwa was also a great driver who made us feel very safe

Our driver Agus and our hiking guide Kaden were absolutely wonderful. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend going for the sunset hike rather than the sunrise. There were only about 15 other people at the top and in the morning I hear it’s more like 150. Must wear shoes as the trail is loose gravel. Lots of rest areas with benches. We visited a coffee plantation on the way there and found dinner on the way back. A highlight of our trip.

  • Epic adventure but not for the faint hearted

This is really difficult - moderate/hard, climbing uphill is really tough, be honest with yourself ahead of doing it. Sari picked us up, with a quick drop off to a coffee plantation and then to the epic Mount Batur. Views: 10/10 Service: 10/10 (Sari was so nice and helpful) Difficulty 7/10 Worth visiting and no shame taking a jeep / bike to help with part of the trip up.

We loved that we got to visit the coffee plantation on our way to Mount Batur. I didn't feel strongly about it initially but thought we would do it since it was included, and I ended up really enjoying our tour there. Our guide for our hike was very friendly, knowledgeable, and enjoyable. The views at the top of the volcano were stunning! We were told we were lucky we could see the sunset and that there weren't many clouds. The hike was difficult for me, and our guide was very patient, taking it slow and helping me up when I fell. I definitely wish I had worn hiking boots instead of sneakers! I much preferred the sunset hike since we heard there can be around a thousand people at the top for sunrise (versus the 20 or so people we saw at sunset).
