Grindelwald-First
The trip is unguided, you may just board the gondola. You find the location/GPS of the departure station on Google and on the Jungfrau Railways website. You gently float up to First in the security of the gondola. On the sunny side of the Grindelwald Valley the aerial cableway leads from the glacier village of Grindelwald to First at 2168 m above sea level. The wide variety and exciting attractions found in this region include the First Cliff Walk by Tissot and the hike to the Lake Bachalpsee, which is known as the pearl of mountain lakes. First Flyer, First Glider, scooter-bike rides, First Mountain Cart are also fun activities to purchase and enjoy when on top! You simply cannot plan adventure. You find one. On First that is a certainty.

Exciting gondola ride from Grindelwald village to Grindelwald First. At the summit, there are hiking opportunities (e.g., the easy circular hike to Bachsee lake, 2 hours, also suitable for strollers) and the spectacular short cliff walk (5-10 minutes), right next to the mountain railway. Large mountain restaurant at the summit.

My husband and I purchased a one-way ticket to Grindelwald First, an adventure we thought would be a highlight of our week in the Interlaken area. After 10 minutes of being in the gondola (a 6-seater but we were alone), the line stopped. An almost indecipherable announcement was made about 35 minutes later through the gondola’s very poor speaker. We were able to hear “technical problem” and “cable car”. Our anxiety was heightened throughout the time we were dangling in mid air. We wondered how the many trapped travelers were doing with their children, possibly older people, or those with phobias. A second, identical announcement was made about one hour after the gondola stopped. After over an hour, the line started moving. We opted to get off at the first stop, Bort, as we did not trust that there would not be additional issues and we were frazzled to the nth degree. We walked over 2 hours back to Grindelwald after a most disappointing and frightening experience.

We took the Gondola up to the ziplines, which only had about a 25 minute wait BUT during the wait we took really fun photos and watched the other people ziplining so it was entertaining. We then went back around up the Gondola again to the look out, then play around on this large vast hill with a perfect view of the alps. We then went to get photos where the K-drama had a big heart and also where the same K-drama had taken photos near paragliders. We then relaxed and had a picnic with a view of the alps. It was very peaceful in the afternoon as not many people were there. We then got a $5 bottle of wine and watched the sunset at the train station to get back to our hotel in Interlaken. In was an amazingly romantic and beautiful day!! All started with The Gondola ride!!

I was stuck in a gondola for more than an hour suspended in the middle of the air. Even though it was October, it was extremely hot in the cart. Worst part is the ticket price for a family of 6 going up the cable card was around 300 USD and return around 200 USD. Would have expected better for the price.

This is a must do if you are anywhere within the vacinity of Grindelwald. Get your tickets at the firstbahn as you can purchase the unlimited gondela rides + 2 activies for around €100.its better value for money than paying for activities seperately. My advice would be to get there early & go on the activity you most want to do first (like the ziplines) as the queues are quite long,we waited 2hrs for the ziplines & we started queuing at 9.50am after doing the cliff walk,in hindesight doing the zipline first then coming back up the mountain to do the walk would have been a better idea. At the bottom of the ziplines we then queued for the mountain karts which was around 30-45mins,these are unbelievably quick & great craic, definately recommended.you could also do the gilder from here but the queue time was too long & its fairly similar to the zipline imo. Dress warmly, the mountain is very cold (we visited in september) & queuing in the cold is zero fun. All in all a great day out, just get their early to avoid long queues.

The gondola ride up to Mount First in Grindelwald was amazing and so much fun! The views along the way are absolutely breathtaking, and the activities at the top make the experience even better. It’s the perfect start to an unforgettable mountain adventure. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Had a little trouble finding the best parking but located an employee wearing a blue vest with I on the front for information who put the location in our google maps. The ride up the mountain was great with fantastic views

Very nice experience must to see places if you are In Switzerland. The view is breathtaking and journey is very smooth. If you driving park your car in Terminal car park and take free bus service to cable car stations otherwise you will loose lots of time looking for parking there

We took the track to the top of First, taking both Cliff Walk, Glider, Flyer and Trotti bike. Very practical that we could take both the track up and down and jump off and on the different stations along the way.

A visit to these places s quite expensive; I'd suggest to stay n a nearby place & commute to the diff destinations since the train facilities r so efficient. Also for various sports activities...don't buy tickets prior to your travel as the weather s unpredictable. No refund will b done and each activity s expensive. The day you plan, start early and decide as there'll b long Q for every ride ( 1 to 2 hrs to buy a tkt). We stayed n Belp ( 2 min from the station) and reached Grindelwald and took a bus to pfisstage. First we went for Toboggan ride. Enjoyed. Next...Flyline which was closeby. This was also good. BTW no discounts n any of these though we had Swiss half fare pass. We climbed lil, had Roshti & coffee and reached the top by Gondola. The Gondola ride was really awesome. 3 stops from base to top. Excellent views from top, had beautiful clicks. Spent nearly 3 hrs. A simple train journey from 1 place to another n Swiss s so enjoyable. Another thing s that...if one books tkt for any ride online & if weather goes bad...any moment they stop & close. Better chk for the weather a day prior to your visit and plan accordingly. Excellent destination but very expensive too 😀
