At 5895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain of Africa and is the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

There are seven established routes for a Kilimanjaro trek. As Moana Tanzania, we organize Kilimanjaro treks for all different routes. We make sure that the mountain trek will be enjoyable and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

After registering at the Marangu gate, your trek will start. You will hike through the rainforest and have a chance to see wildlife such as white and black colobus monkeys along the way. You will spend the night in the Mandara hut. Elevation: 1700m to 2740m, 8km, hiking time: 4-6 hours, Habitat: rainforest.

Mandara hut to Horombo huts

Today's hike will start in the rainforest but this habitat will soon change into the beautiful views of the moorlands. You will stay overnight at the Horombo hut. Elevation: 2740m to 3700m, 11 km, hiking time: 5-6 hours, habitat: moorland

Elevation: 3700m to 4700m, 10 km, hiking time: 6-8 hours, Habitat: Alpine desert During your hike today you will pass the last water point to reach the saddle area between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. You will spend the night at Kibo hut.

Kibo hut to Uhuru peak to Horombo huts

Elevation: 4700m to 5,895m to 3700m, 20 km, hiking time: 10-15 hours, habitat: icy summit and alpine desert Today is summit day! You will start very early in the morning and reach Gillman's point around sunrise. Soon after that, you will reach Uhuru peak. You will stop at Uhuru peak to celebrate and have time to take in the amazing views. After that, you will start your descent down to Horombo huts, where you will stay overnight.

The team at Moana went above and beyond for us on our 6 day trek to Uhuru peak. They were always there for us no matter the needs or requirements they made sure we were always comfortable on the mountain. My favourite part has to of been meeting with the guides and porters, they made the trip for us, always so informative on the history and traditions of the mountains, we were in awe of their knowledge. Emmanual and Onesmo were our guides, they made sure we got to the summit no matter the conditions and for that i am really grateful. I couldn't recommend them enough

Last week I climbed Kilimanjaro in less than 24 hours. It was no problem to arrange this special requirement with Moana. The communication were clear and fast and the services were customized to my specific needs. The guide (Gasper) did a great job of assessing the pace and scheduling breaks during the climb, so that I could summit with no problems.

I had a great tek with Moana to reach Kilimanjaro. The trip was well organized and Moana was very professional. As my friend became sick and i had finish alone I was very pleased that Moana could adjust the trip so we made it up and down within 72 hours in stead of 5 days. Reaching Mt. Kili in -20 and snowstorm was maybe not the best of luck, but it made a beautiful scenery. The cabins was nice, and as there was few people on the mountain we/I got a lot of space and it was easy to sleep without interuptions. The food was really good on the whole trip and it was more than enough to eat all the time. If there was something that i did not like it was the milk porridge. I did not have any expectations of getting friends on this trip, but the whole Moana crew were amazing. My boss guide, Emmanuel, brought me to the Summit and down with many good conversations , histories, and memories. I learnt a lot about Africa, Tanzania and Kilimanjaro. The other guide, Sanga, and the porters was also nice. It was great to talk with them, specially after I was left alone. Also nice to stay in touch after I got back to Norway. The crew made sure that you are comfortable, eat, sleep, and have everything you need. They motivates you and see it was their own pride to bring their customers to the top. I had to argue a bit to tell them I am used to the cold and did not have to dress as much as they wanted me to. Shorts in 5 degrees is fine. I recommend to climb Kilimanjaro. Moana is the perfect choice to bring you there.
