Like the Dead Sea, the Great Salt Lake exists within an arid environment and has chemical characteristics like that of the oceans. However, it has a much greater salinity than the oceans, since natural evaporation exceeds the supply of water from the rivers feeding the lake.

  • A Wow Trip !

I am a seasoned traveler and usually opt for a private tour, but I couldn’t find such an option for this kind of trip. Booking this 7-day, 6-state, and 3-national-park expedition (including Yellowstone) through Viator was an excellent decision.Trip Highlights:: 1) Perfect Scenery: The weather was gorgeous, the driveways were incredibly scenic, and we were given plenty of stops and time to explore each location.; 2) Exceptional Staff: Our driver, Clint, and tour guide, Perry, went above and beyond. They genuinely cared about the customers, making the entire trip entertaining and highly enjoyable. 3) Great Atmosphere: The bus crowd was international, friendly, and very respectful of everyone's time. Overall, I totally recommend this trip if you want to explore the beautiful America. Mind-blowing!.

  • Good with a side of disappointment!

This tour covers a lot of ground in a few days. The amount of sites you see is phenomenal. However, the eating and sleeping arrangements are sub par. I realize hotels are expensive near tourist attractions but I would have rather paid more for better nightly accommodations with a breakfast included. Also, gas station eating is not the ideal situation for someone with a chronic health condition. I found it frustrating. The tour guide was very friendly but I would’ve loved more information on the mountain ranges we were driving by since I had never been in the area. We also would’ve loved the chance to do an optional Crazy Horse tour that could be taken up to the top of the Crazy Horse. (Higher than the CH bus took us) This was offered only in the late afternoon so maybe it was more a timing issue. The bus driver was great, humorous and informative. We felt very confident as he drove in rain and snow and over the mountains. All in all it was a good trip with some disappointing aspects.

A really great tour, saw lots of sights including ones we knew and ones we were pleasantly surprised by. Guide Frank and driver Lynn were both lovely and had lots of knowledge to share. Every day was packed full (sometimes with a lot of commuting) and it was very well planned out. Would have liked more time at Arches rather than in Salt Lake City but we still saw a couple of the main features there. Overall a great experience.

  • Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone tour

    Larry B,May 9, 2025

    - Review from Viator

    4.00

The driver Scott is an excellent bus driver and Frank the tour guide is very knowledgeable and professional. Frank did his best to keep us well informed and up-to-date. I thought the Yellowstone stay was too long with many stops to places that looked exactly alike. Dinning selections were either Chinese and fast food. Hotels could be better. If you don’t want too listen to Chinese, don’t take this tour.

  • Bargain trip experience

    Michael S,Jul 16, 2023

    - Review from Viator

    4.00

This tour is a “bargain” trip that covers a lot of ground with no frills. Be prepared for a 3000+ mile bus ride with mostly Chinese speaking tourists. Everyone was respectful and pleasant. The hotels are definitely value priced lodging but were all clean with comfortable beds but little else. Considering the tour day is typically 12 hours each day, the only thing you do at the hotel is sleep and shower. The tour operator has picked hotels strategically to allow for Chinese dining wherever possible. There wasn’t much opportunity for a variety of culinary experiences. Breakfast was hit and miss. The itinerary hits all the major tour attractions for an hour or so. It’s off the bus, snap some pictures and on to the next site. Sometimes three to four hours apart so there is a LOT of bus time. The 2 1/2 days in the Yellowstone region is mostly without cell service so come prepared with your guidebook. If you are only English speaking you may have trouble understanding the tour guide who in our case was Chinese and English was his second language. There was very limited communication and/or narration of the sites or what to expect at each site. Just a limited script that was hard to understand when he read it. The itinerary is comprehensive in terms of what is visited and the scenery was incredible. There are certainly great photo opportunities and many of the sites are just breathtaking. It’s a great value for the money but it is not a luxury trip experience by any means.
