  The bus left at the time stated and our tour guide Mike gave an in depth history talk of the wall during the coach ride to help understand the significance of the wall. We were given maps for the East and West side, which we booked cable cars for both sides as we thought we would be able to do both in the time frame. But we spent longer than intended on the East side, so we didn’t do the West side as we didn’t want to rush. After telling Mike, he managed to get us reimbursed for the tickets we didn’t use. It was an incredible experience to be able to walk on such a piece of history with the views and we were well looked after during the whole tour.

  We had an enjoyable and well organised trip to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Kevin our guide met us at Dongzhimen station and we left on time. The bus was comfortable and on the journey Kevin gave an informative talk on the history of the Great Wall as well as providing details on our itinerary for the day and arranging tickets for the cable car, cable way and tobaggan depending on visitors preferred route on the wall. On arrival we were guided to the shuttle bus that takes you to the cable car station. The views from the wall are spectacular and you have flexibility on how far you want explore depending on your physical ability (some parts of the wall are very steep). We opted for the buffet lunch with Mubus, which was good value and tasty. Mubus provides a waiting room while you wait for your return bus, the timing is flexible as you join any bus which leaves when there are enough passengers. Overall a well organised and good value way to experience the Great Wall Mutianyu.

  Honestly I can’t recommend this experience enough. From the meeting in the morning at the station until the very end to be dropped back off to the station every single part of the trip was seamless. We began by meeting our tour guide Kevin who took us to our bus that would be taking us to the Great Wall. On that journey Kevin shared with us some history, some fun facts and kept the spirits and morale high. He seemed more excited to be on this trip than us which made us look forward to it even more. He was very humorous, and explained all the different options of paths we can take when we got to the wall and what to expect. He then walked us to each entrance and gave us ample time to experience each gate and take the trip at our own pace. They also offer lunch and snacks and water which we took full advantage of. All delicious. I’m writing this as we head back to the city but the great wall itself is incredible. There are certainly some technical bits that I would recommend training for or skipping, but the views from the cable cars are amazing and the top of the wall too. Worth the climb. It was a little crowded in spots, but naturally for a wonder of the world in great weather it would be. The trip totalled for me and my mum just over £80 which included bus transfer, entry, cable cars, guide and drinks. Worth every penny.

  

  

• Trip to Great Wall with Mubus

  I booked an early tour that started at 8 a.m. right next to Dongzhimen Station, Subway Exit B. On the way from Dongzhimen to the Great Wall, our guide Kevin shared the fascinating history of the Great Wall and explained the differences between the west and east routes, which was incredibly helpful. When we arrived at the Mubus base, Kevin gave us a clear and easy-to-follow introduction on how and where to begin. We decided to take the west route, which turned out to be quite challenging because of the steep and narrow steps—but it was absolutely worth it for the views and experience. After finishing the route, we returned to the Mubus base and had lunch. The buffet was delicious, with a wide variety of dishes, and very affordable at only 80 CNY. It was the perfect way to end our adventure. I will definitely recommend this tour. Thank you so much to Mubus and Kevin for such a wonderful experience.

  It was absolutely worth it! Our trip started at Dongzhimen Station, and even before the journey began, our guide Kevin contacted us with a reminder, which was very thoughtful. On the way to the Great Wall, he shared a lot of useful information and tips, making the experience even more enjoyable. There are two routes at the Great Wall—the west and the east. We chose the west route to challenge ourselves. Toward the end, the steps become steeper and larger, and the path goes almost straight up, which made it a fun and rewarding climb. I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothes, and bringing sunscreen and water. After the hike, we had lunch at Mubus. There were plenty of options, and everything was delicious. Thank you so much to Mubus and Kevin for such a wonderful experience!

  Visiting the Great Wall of China was fantastic; we went with MuBus, and everything was super organized. They provided us with a buffet and a discount ticket. Our guide Mike won our hearts; he helped us with our luggage, gave us recommendations, and even guided us to take the subway directly to the airport. Everything was super nice.

  Usually these bus transports are pretty dull, the guide is nice and gives us information and that's about it. The tour with mr mike was different, from the start he was cracking hilarious jokes and was so enthusiastic that it was so memorable and gave us a whole lot of information. The mubus team was so organized around timing, luggage storage, information etc and the buffet lunch was totally worth it. Lots of Chinese food with some adapted western food for people that can't handle it haha.

  I had such a great time on this tour, honestly booking tours takes all the travel stress away and you can enjoy the moment and know you’re having the best experience because your amazing guide Mr Mike is there telling you exactly what to do, where to go, all the best photo opportunity spots as well as appreciating the history.
