At La Bocana beach, indulge in the tradition of a therapeutic mud treatment by the women of La Bocana Cooperative.
The mud, made with warm mineral water, volcanic ash, organic peat,
lake mud, and sea salt, dries quickly (10-15 minutes) followed by an exfoliation and a dip in the sea. When you emerge, your skin will be refreshed, clear, and soft to the touch. Beach showers and changing rooms are available to remove any excess mud.
For this beach experience, you will need your bathing suit and flip flops; the host provides fluffy towels and plenty of water. Once showered and clothed we will depart La Bocana.
Then, enjoy an authentic Mexican mezcal tasting. We will provide an educational and tasteful exploration of Oaxaca’s drink of choice. This tour promises not only relaxation but also an interesting cultural experience where you will learn about this local libation.

What To Expect
Playa La Bocana
Our tour kicks off at beautiful Playa Bocana, where we are slathered in naturally mineral-rich mud by the local women. We then splash into the ocean or hop in the showers to rinse off, ending with skins as smooth as a babys!
Bahia Chahue
After our mud massage we head back to Huatulco. Here we will enjoy an exquisite, informative and fascinating session of mezcal tasting.

5.00A group of us went to Huatulco for a 40th birthday get away. We went on the Mud, Massage, Mezcal tour on our first day and we were overjoyed that we did. It was such a different experience! The woman who slather you in mud are serious about their trade. We were laughing from start to finish on this experience like we were turning 20 years old not 40. The description of this tour is accurate, but you really have to partake to get the full enjoyment of the mud massage. All you need are the clothes on your back and Next Stop Huatulco handles the rest. We had never even heard of mezcal, but in Oaxaca EVERYONE drinks it. Be forewarned mezcal is extremely strong. We are all pretty much party girls, but mezcal is completely different to any other alcohol we tasted prior this birthday. It is a learning and tasting event. Maryrose (our guide) definitely contributed to the success of our tour. She kindly gave us some great tips and took a few calls! THANK YOU MR!

5.00At first, I’ll admit, I wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea. But let me be the first to say—it would've been an absolute shame if I’d missed out on this experience. The mud bath was so unique, so refreshing. The women who provided the mud massages were not only incredibly skilled, but also warm and welcoming. They made sure everyone was comfortable, and it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing. By the end, I left feeling like a completely new person. What really stood out, though, was how Next Stop Huatulco took care of all the little details. They provided towels and a perfect mesh bag for your wet swimwear, which was a lovely touch. The mesh bag wasn’t just practical—it was a thoughtful gift from Maryrose, and we all left with one, which felt like a nice souvenir. The Mezcal tasting was another unexpected highlight. We learned so much about the process, the flavours, and the culture surrounding it. It was an experience that really deepened our appreciation for it. Looking back, I can’t believe I almost skipped this tour for the sake of lounging by the pool. I’m so glad I joined in.

5.00As newcomers to the area, we weren’t sure what to do, but when we saw the Mud Massage and Mezcal tour advertised in our hotel lobby, we decided to give it a try—and we’re so glad we did! Maryrose kindly offered to pick us up, as we were staying nearby. The experience exceeded all expectations. We never imagined something as simple and earthy as a mud treatment could be so rejuvenating. When the mud was removed, our skin felt incredibly soft and smooth—almost like a baby’s, and we both felt deeply refreshed. Next, we enjoyed our first-ever Mezcal tasting. While Mezcal definitely packs a punch, Maryrose’s expert knowledge of local mezcalerias made it an unforgettable experience. It felt more like a relaxed, high-end wine tasting, with lots of fun and great conversation. Combining a mud massage with a Mezcal tasting might sound unconventional, but it’s a brilliant pairing and one we highly recommend. A truly unique and memorable Oaxacan experience!

5.00Every Christmas our bodd and our besties get together for day óot in a different locati .This year it was my turn to pick the destination and I knocked it our to the ball park. We went on the Mud, Massage, Mezcal tour by Next Stop Huatulco. We were laughing the entire mud massage, exfoliation and swim in the sea. Thankfully, there were basic showers to leave sparkrling clean head to toe. The mud makes your skin look translucent and feel smooth to the touch.Senora Francesca and her colleagues did a fabulous job. We would definitely rate this experience as local. Next Stopa mezcal bar not to be believed, The owner's family has been in the mezcal business for two hundred years. Mezcal is very strong and you have to take tiny sips . Other cocktails are served. Localsl have a saying in Spanish - the three B's Bueno, Bonita, Boratto. Good, Pretty, Cheap. This is that tour! We would recommend this tour to ANYONE!

5.00Our concierge recommended a tour called Mud Massage Mezcal with Next Stop Huatulco tours. Such a unique experience. Loved learning the history and experiencing the benefits of a century old tradition of mud massage and then dipping into the sea! It felt so good! The mezcal tasting was another first. The owner of the mezcalaria explained all of the different types and tastes. We had three tasting of the least potent mezcal. Cocktails that would generally call for tequilla are made with mezcal. Mezcal mixed as part of a cocktail was DELICIOUS! We were fortunate to have Maryrose take us on this tour. She was an amazing host and we loved our experience! We would certainly recommend this experience with Next Stop Huatulco and look forward to another tour with Maryrose next time!

5.00Mud, Massage, Mezcal experience was a new, relaxing and at the same time exhilarating. The women who run the mud baths love their jobs and ensure you leave with glistening skin. We had never had a sip of mescal and it is the drink of choice in Oaxaca. It is an acquired taste. We learned so much about mezcal and its popularity and gaining international presence that we feel we are in the know. Thank you Next Stop Huatulco.

5.00My Hubby and I wanted to do this on our last full day in Huatulco and we are so glad we did, it was absolutely amazing and our skin felt so soft and smooth after!! Highly Recommend! We did have to contact through the booking site after we booked it because our resort was closer to where the Mud Massage was than our original meeting point it had said online, but MaryRose was more than accommodating and was willing to pick us up from our resort on the way to the mud massage WITH St.Patty’s day beaded necklaces for both my hubby and I! MaryRose was such a wonderful tour guide and helping us translate to the ladies that did the mud massage as we do not speak any Spanish what so ever and they did not speak any English so MaryRose definitely came to the rescue for both of us! She also was taking pictures of us during the experience which I very much appreciated. We had mentioned to her not to worry about the Mezcal tasting after because we already had done so much of that during our stay, so instead she offered to show us a couple places around that we hadn’t seen yet and we ABSOLUTELY loved this!! We were so appreciative to her for everything she did and she also told us some history and things we didn’t know about Huatulco, she just made us feel like VIP and made sure we enjoyed every part of the experience! We would definitely contact her again for any future holidays we take there. Also, at the end of our tour she gave us some local treats to take back home for our kids to try. The absolute kindness MaryRose has I feel was the best part of the whole experience!

5.00The whole experience was magnificent! Maryrose was an amazing hostess, always making sure I was confortable and having a great experience. The masseuse was very professional and made an excellent job. The mezcal tasting was incredible, I do not know much about mezcal and this was very enriching. I highly reccomend this for a day date or just to have a relaxing evening in Huatulco.
