We’ll begin in the very heart of Munich—Marienplatz, where the city’s success story began with the trade of “white gold” – salt. From there, we’ll make our way to St. Peter’s Church (Alter Peter), the oldest in the historic center, offering timeless views and stories. Just around the corner lies the lively Viktualienmarkt, a beloved food market full of local specialties and flavors. Next, we’ll dive into quirky legends—rooted in real history—at Munich’s first royal residence, the Alter Hof. Framing the square are the striking Old and New Town Halls, setting the stage for the centerpiece of the plaza: the Mariensäule, or Column of St. Mary. 5.00I had the pleasure to do a solo tour guide with Philipp in 2024, and I can happily say he is one of the best guides I've had so far, going above and beyond to show me the best places and tell me the most interesting stories throughout the day. We visited lots of beautiful architecture, historical places, and even locations with local, often powerful stories that were incredibly interesting to learn about Munich and German culture as a whole. If it wasn't for Philipp, I would have never learned about the boat restaurant on the bridge, or this beautiful art location hidden away just a few minutes from Munich. I truly appreciate the kindness Philipp showed me throughout the day, helping me with things like public transport and such. I can confidently say, if you're looking for a handcrafted, tailored experience of Munich, Philipp is the person you are looking for.
