Plantation walk is a day tour. Those who are coming to Munnar can opt for this activity. This involves a maximum1- 2 hour walk through the Tea plantation and interaction with Tea Pluckers to learn the local culture of the people. Moreover this walk is good for heath in the form of breathing pure oxygen and peace of mind. It is a new attraction introduced by Lockhart Farm Tourism in Munnar. The objective of this unique programme is to give the tea lovers all around the world the unique experience of producing their own tea from the tea plant to the cup.
The Lockhart tea factory is famous for its Orthodox Tea produced in the traditional way. The museum includes a living factory which was built in 1936 and a tea sales outlet and tea-tasting sections. The visitors are given a briefing about the origins of tea for consumption, its history & health benefits and explained about the traditional tea manufacturing processes.

5.00This was an hands down amazing experience! Breathtaking views, super informative, and hands on learning. You couldn’t ask for more. Our tour guide started us with a walk through the tea plantation and told us step by step how each of the tea variants were developed. He was very kind, and allowed us to ask questions to our hearts content. Lots of places to stop for pictures, and every moment was picture worthy. We took a very short auto trip to the factory, where he again guided us clearly how they actually convert the tea plants into usable tea. I walked out with a much much clearer understanding of it, and gained a reinvigorated appreciation for tea. Finally we got to the gift shop, where we could purchase tea to bring back home.

5.00This tour was an absolute highlight of our visit to Munnar! The plantation and factory are amazing to visit. As nature lovers we have truly enjoyed the views and as tea lovers we’ve learned (and experienced) a lot. Ramesh is a great guide. He is very knowledgeable about tea and also can answer many questions about the region. We’ve really enjoyed spending those few hours with him. It was the best start of the year we could imagine 😎

4.00Great experience, immersed in the iconic tea plantations. Walk and explanation of plant types/processes. Visit to the factory and tasting (a bit quick and rough) of the various types of tea. Presence of packages to be purchased.
