Isola di Murano
The enchanting islands of Murano and Burano are the perfect change of pace from Venice’s crowded streets and waterways. And the perfect way to reach them is by private water taxi. Faster and sturdier than a gondola, nimbler and less crowded than a waterbus, water taxis are the premier way to travel in Venice. Few visitors get to experience them, but yours is included, along with an expert local guide who’ll explain Venice’s history as a titan of trade along the way. Your first port of call is a specially chosen glassblowing workshop on Murano. In the Middle Ages, only Murano’s artisans possessed the secrets of this craft, and sharing them was punishable by execution. You’ll get to witness modern glassblowers wield those once secret techniques, shaping delicate and dazzling works of art from molten glass. Then admire the workshop’s finest work in its gallery, and perhaps take home a piece of your own – with a tour discount. Or explore more of Murano, including its peaceful canals and stunning Byzantine church.
The locals of nearby Burano still maintain the island’s tradition of handmade lace, some of the finest anywhere in the world. You’ll get to observe lace being hand-stitched the way it has been for generations. Then visit the lace museum to see the island’s greatest work, or simply enjoy the photo opportunity provided by the colorful houses, brightly painted so sailors could see home as they returned from the sea. When you cross the lagoon back to Venice, you’ll have a renewed appreciation of the crafts that put the city on the map so long ago.

Antonella was very friendly and welcoming and informed us of what to expect on the tour. Thoroughly enjoyed the glass blowing on Murano and seeing all the different items that are made at the factory. Burano is very picturesque and the lace making demonstration was very short but interesting. All in all a lovely tour, especially with the sun shining on the painted houses.

The day trip to Murano and Burano islands was excellent. Our tour guide was Monica, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Her knowledge of local facts was excellent and appreciated listening to her throught the private boat tour. Although I have been to Venice before, I never actually took the opportunity to these islands in the past. I am so glad that I booked the tour abd gad Monica as our tour guide. Thank you.

We had a lovely tour with our guide Frankie, of Murano and Burano. It's well worth this boat ride to each island! The glass making was beautiful and Burano is such a charming and colorful place! We loved walking through the little shops!

We were accompanied by the amazing Frankie! She was a delight, explained us the history in detail and made the whole trip fun with her funny remarks. We had just enough time to enjoy both of the islands. Even for low season we were able to fing restaurants and cafés to attend our needs. In Murano, the glass blowing demonstration was very impressive, followed by a stroll in the factory's showroom. In Burano we got familiar with the tradition of lacemaking by a very polite gentleman. Overall we had a great time and we would suggest this trip! Greetings from Greece!

It was a great experience. The guide Alice made our experience perfect. Reading other reviews about the cost and what was expected. In our opinion the private boat with a max of 20 including a guide was an amazing price point. You have the same boat from start to finish so if you want to leave items onboard that is an option. The island demos are more of an exposure not a lesson. Again, the price reflects this. For little more than the public transport a guide is included. Alice’s art history degree, her love for her home town of Venice and narration made the tour a treat. The five hour experience flew by.
