An amazing sunset is just the beginning of a dazzling evening under the stars at Maui's longest-running luau, where beach-side seating, free-flowing drinks, all-you-care-to-eat buffet dinner, and authentic Polynesian dance combine for the perfect Hawaiian evening.

Your evening begins with a cold beverage and photo opportunities as you enjoy watching the sun dip behind the horizon of the Pacific Ocean. The dinner buffet features authentic Hawaiian fare including kalua pork cooked in a traditional imu, an underground oven that cooks the meat to tender perfection. There's even a kids' buffet featuring chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and Maui potato chips.

After dinner, the stage comes alive with rhythmic drumming, traditional Hawaiian, Tahitian, Samoan, and Maori performances and thrilling fire-knife dances. With vivid choreography and mesmerizing music, the show does more than entertain—it also tells the stories and legends of the islands.

  • Good time, but General Admission entrance process completely divides the class of customer

Experience - overall was a very good show and enjoyed the food and drink as well. Admission Fee - expensive, but subsidized with a time-share vacation club presentation Length of Visit - 8 nights Atmosphere - good (as expected) Crowd Size - good crowd, but not so crowded that it had an overall impact. Staff - was busy but totally disconnected from the customer experience. A lot of confusion and a complete lack of communication with the entrance process. Best for - VIP's. Not so true for the general admission customers. Terrible entrance process, so prepare for that ahead of time. Divided class of customers.

Before I really critique this Luau, let me say the show was actually decent. But let’s talk about the $200-a-head buffet. For that price I’d expect a carving station with a roast pig. Especially from a venue that bills itself the #1 Luau in Maui. What we got was basically the prepared foods section of a safeway. Some unsavory pulled pork, fruit salad with inedible pineapple cores tossed in, and some ahi poke you could probably procure at a local safeway. The food actually ran out about 30 mins before the show ended and was not replenished. My wife wanted to get her desert a bit later, and when she went back, the one cheesecake tray they had was picked clean. When we got back to the hotel, we ran into another family in the elevator, and the dad was complaining to his wife about the food quality. Totally relatable. If you read this review and still attend, you’ve been warned!

We had such a great time at the Myths of Maui Luau! The food and drinks were really good. The performance was amazing, so entertaining, energetic, and beautifully done. You can tell a lot of effort goes into the show. Overall, a great experience and such a fun, memorable night. Definitely recommend

This was an outstanding Luau experience! The performers were experienced professionals who take pride in their culture and performance. The buffet offered an abundance of several delicious food options. The General Manager Janet and her team did an outstanding job putting on a superior event! This dinner and show offers a great value of quality and quantity for the price. We highly recommend this show the Myths of Maui at the Royal Lahania for an authentic luau experience!

I am giving this lu'au 3.5 stars. We've been to many lu'aus. In fact, we celebrate the end of our Hawai'i trip with one about 80-90% of our HI trips. This was our first time at this particular lu'au only as the recommendation from our concierge at Hilton Maui Bay Villas. I did love the dancing and the storyline of Maui. The part that we didn't enjoy was that we were seated at the back by the plants, and we were harassed by the bugs. I think the eating area is packed so the back tables abut against the plants. The managers don't think about this, because they've never sat at that spot. Our waiter was sooooo gracious enough to move us - hence the extra half star. Another part that I didn't enjoy was that this was the FIRST lu'au where they ran out of food, and the time to eat was very short. We got to check out at 5:30 PM - only 15 mins after check-in started for general line. The line was extremely long so I wondered when they were going to start the check in. We stood in line for a very long time. I don't even know when we started eating, but not even half of the tables were full when we got to our bug-flying table. People were lined up to the buffet, and we got our first plate without any problem. However, by the time we got to our seconds, they ran out of plates to even get food - only one buffet line was available at the time. The desserts were already ransacked - I'm assuming scarcity ran high with this crowd as the locust had come through. We asked the staff for more desserts, and they didn't bring them out. We weren't necessarily the slowest eaters, and there were other customers unsatisfied with lack of desserts at the end. Others were also looking for dinner plates for seconds - or maybe even thirds. I don't like to feel rushed during dinner on our vacation as where we're from, we come from area where people stuff face during work lunch. I wanted to relax on vacation to take my time - but apparently, that wasn't allowed. This was seriously our FIRST time where they didn't bring out more desserts. We sat right next to the buffet so we knew if and when they did. They only refilled the dinner during the 1st run. The dancing and entertainment were great, though! I want to encourage the dancers and music team. Mahalo for that!

  • Great show, terrible food

The food is low grade buffet style with ants. Pretty rough. The drinks are made without too much alcohol unless you watch the bartender. The wait staff and performers are amazing, they make it worth it. Great show. Food sucks for a $250 per person show. Food needs to be better.

  • It was OK. Some areas for improvement.

Some good and some disappointing. The buffet was as expected for a luau. Kalua pork was great. Fish too. Everything else was ok. The bar was open and wait staff was very friendly. The show was good. My family had never been to a luau and they liked it. I had been to one on Oahu last year that I liked better. It rained the night of our show. They provided ponchos when we got seated, which was beyond expectation, but we were already soaked from waiting 45 minutes in line to get in. It would have been nice if they had come down the line and handed them out as the rain started. The parking situation was poor. Paid $10 to park at the hotel and the lot was not lit at all. I think we were in overflow parking that is typically for staff. The path way to walk from the car to the luau was unlit, through some storage areas/tennis arena with a significant grade and stairs without handrails. I had to use my phone flashlight and worry about my 74 year old father with an unsteady gait. Very dangerous. If they ran out of space, they should have put us in some of the open valet spaces we walked past (that were abundant). Overall, I was underwhelmed. Over $1100 for the 6 of us. I expected better.

  • Just okay- too commercialized

This luau was just okay. Upon arrival , you check in and they hand you a beaded lei. They don’t place it around your neck, they plop it on the counter. We were then seated in rows of long tables amongst a whole bunch of people. We wanted a more intimate experience, it was a special trip and evening for us as a couple. The food was very inexpensive buffet style, and drinks were just okay. The show was nice, but lacking a wow factor. We paid $600 which is a lot of money for a meal and show that were lack lustre. We had such high hopes but unfortunately left feeling disappointed.

  • Must see! Amazing views and show!

What an awesome experience! Excellent service, food was great. Perfect variety for both kids and adults. Drinks were flowing and delicious. Stephen and Janet are the managers that helped us reserve front row seats for the show and the kids absolutely loved it! Jeremy was our waiter for the night, he took such great care of us and was great with our kids. All of the staff at the luau were so accommodating and made this such a special occasion for us.
