Nagarkot Changunarayan Temple hiking is refreshment and stamina enhancing day hike east of Kathmandu city. On clear weather day you can enjoy the panoramic Himalayan view including Mt. Everest and many more. The hiking is very easy one with downhill walking which takes around 4 to 5 hours (depend on your pace). In fact, this is a trip which is a combination of hiking and culture tour of Changu Narayan Temple. The temple is one of the oldest one in Nepal and offer you beautiful art and architecture from 7th century. We drive to Nagarkot early in the morning to begin this hiking, it takes around 45 minutes to an hour (30 KM). Once we reach to Nagarkot you will enjoy the stunning sunrise and mountain views. The first part of the hike involves an amazing cultural encounter of ethnical villages, unaffected by the nearby capital city. While the second part is witnessing beautiful nature along the ridge rich in deciduous forests and sceneries of Majestic Himalayas. Finally the hike will ends at Changu Narayan Temple and the cultural aspect of the trip will begin. After visiting the temple and taking lunch you will be driven back to Kathmandu city.

I went with Ramesh. He was EXCELLENT. On time, perfect communication and did exactly what I wanted. Didn’t rush me nor did he slow me down. I would 100% use them again when I return. Also, Kesh who deals with comms is brilliant

Our group of 4 did the Namobuddha day hike arranged by Kesh, with Himalayan Mentor. It was easy to book the tour, and Kesh was very responsive to emails, and Whatsapp. We were flying out of Nepal that evening and were short on time, and there was some flexibility to get picked up earlier and head back to Kathmandu before the traffic. Overall, I do plan to return to Nepal and hopefully have more time for a longer trek, in which I will likely book with Himalayan mentor again!

My son and I did the Poon Hill hike. It was a wonderful experience. Our guide Prabin was excellent as was the porter Deepak. Prabin was very knowledgeable and patient. I’m 56 and not an experienced hiker so my pace was slow and both he and Deepak waited for me and were very helpful and kind. They both made the experience a very memorable one. The tea houses that were arranged had very fresh and healthy food which was great after a long day of hiking. They were also comfortable and clean. Kesh was also very professional and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend this company.

Kesh arranged 2 day tours for me, Bhaktapur+ Changunarayan+ Nagrakot and Dhulikhel+ Namobuddha+ Panauti. As a solo female traveler I felt safe, the guide and driver were professional and the tours were great value for what I had paid. I checked various companies and Kesh responded always the quickest, communication was easy and he was very responsive and answered all my questions and had me informed with all I needed to know. He also checked back after every pick up and after drop off to verify I'm well and satisfied. Thanks Kesh! I wish you all the best!

We are a family of 4 (kids aged 14 and 12) from Malaysia. We went for the Kathmandu valley cultural walk in the month of November 2018. It was a 4 night 5 day trip. We did part hiking, part public transport (bus), and part cab (up to Nagarkot). The initial plan was just to hike all the way, but i think our guides overestimated our speed. So, we adjusted plans a little to suit our mood and pace. We thought it futile to just spend the whole daytime walking only to reach our destination at night when there's not much to see. We hiked the fwhole first day to Chisopani, then we hiked part of the way, and then grabbed a bus midway. We spent a whole day in Banepa and it was exciting just to walk around the ctown and savour the sights and sounds. From then on we decided that this was so much more to our pace and we did a mixture of hikes and buses. Our guides and porters, Ram, Arjun and Ram we great company, and ever so helpful. We had a memorable time during the whole journey. What would our advice be for other families with kids? 1. Nepalese are very fit people and tend to downplay walking distances and times. We needed to double the time estimate for us. If the goal is to just enjoy the hike, i think a mixture of walking and buses would be more pleasant rather than just long hikes. Local buses are cheap. It would be good to jot down whatever such expense so as to avoid confusion when repaying your guide later for the bus trips. 2. Sleeping bags are a must for the lodges during winter as it can get cold and there is no heating. The hotels are fine though. 3. Eat what the guides eat during breaks. Local food is tasty and much faster to prepare. 4. Walking poles are a must. The terrain is undulating and the poles are a great help especially on the steep trails. 5. If your guide tells you its a flat hike, what he means that it averages out to be flat (:)) 6. Snacks are a must, although you'll find many stalls along the way with simple snacks and water. 7. We only needed a torch for the last night when we stayed in a tent. Overall, it was such a memorable experience, right from the time Kesh met us at the airport to the last day. Communicating with Kesh was easy.

I just did the Himalayan Mentor Day Tour ~ Hiking from Nargakot to Changu Narayan in Nepal. It was all I hoped for and more! I was picked up at my lodging in Kathmandu at the appointed early hour right on time, and was taken away with our guide to the starting point of Nagarkot in time to watch the amazing sunrise over the Himalayas.... After a great time here, we had a breakfast in a little place in Nagarkot so authentic and homey, in the tiny village. The hike was really wonderful and the views were great! The guide was easy to be with and the hike was gentle with lots of stops along the way to rest and take in the scenery and stay hydrated. It was a good long hike though, and by the time we got to the sacred oldest temple in Nepal, Changu Narayagan we were really glad. It seemed even more sacred and special because we arrived on foot after walking so far. The temple there is my favorite one in Nepal. Not crowded and an excellent ending point to this tour. We had a nice lunch here and spent a few hours enjoying the wonderful energy and temple here before getting our driver to take us back to Kathmandu. I'm so glad I did this hike ~ it was a big one, glad I wore good hiking boots and a hat, and brought water to drink. The people are really lovely that we met along the way in the little villages. It was good to be out in the mountain air. Our guide and driver were wonderful. Thank you for creating a great hiking journey for me and my friend! blessings & namaste Susan (Ithaca, New York USA)

Good mentors put the relationship first, letting the wants and needs of their mentees drive the direction of the journey, filling in the blanks with their own knowledge for a rewarding experience. Himalayan Mentor lives up to its name, focusing on our relationship first to give us the journey we wanted and filling it with experiences we didn’t know we needed to make it unforgettable. There are many companies that will provide tours and treks within Nepal, and a number that will arrange tours of Bhutan and Tibet. However, Himalayan Mentor stood out for their ability to do all three countries and their responsiveness and flexibility. Planning for our trip started almost a year in advance, of the companies I reached out to Himalayan Mentors was the first to reply. Keshav and I exchanged several emails, discussing what we wanted from our trip, and we made a number of changes to the itinerary before any money exchanged hands. Like clockwork, I would send an email and in less than 24 hours I would have a friendly and informative response. Pricing was very fair and commensurate to the number of days, quality of hotels desired, and number of flights to accommodate the destinations and timing. They are also very clear about what is covered and not covered upfront. Himalayan Mentors was very flexible and the trip was customized to our unique schedule. We were in Nepal to attend a friend’s wedding and we only had 16 days to see Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet with two full days allocated to the wedding festivities. Keshav had the foresight to understand the timing and conditions for us to get our visas to Tibet with enough time to get our passports back to fly to Bhutan. All of this was accomplished without us feeling rushed or harried. Overall, the trip was very comfortably paced while packing in a lot. For instance, on most days, time to relax was incorporated into the itinerary. Yet also, when a few hours opened up before the wedding reception, Keshav worked with us to arrange a quick morning trip to Nagarkot and ancient Hindu temple of Changu Narayan to make the most of additional time. Shiva, our guide for Kathmandu and Pokhara, was very knowledgeable and experienced, having been a guide for many years he helped make the most of our packed itinerary, giving the right amount of history and background on each site while not slowing the pace of the tour. His experience also help us in finding an authentic Thanka in Bhaktapur and quality restaurants with great views and good food throughout our destinations in Nepal. Himalayan Mentor has made strong partnerships with sister companies of equal caliber in Bhutan and Tibet. Both tours were excellent as coordinated with Himalayan Mentors and the hotels were excellent. In Bhutan, our guide Prabhat happily took us about Thimphu and Paro in Bhutan visiting key temples, monasteries, and Dzongs, and he hiked to the Tiger’s Nest with us. By the end of our short stay he’d become a friend. In Tibet, our guide Lobsang not only served as a guide, but he went the extra mile to help us find an authentic Tibetan prayer wheel in the Barkhor and negotiate a fair price with the merchant. Our already excellent tour was made all the better by the friendly and attentive customer service we received. Keshav made us feel comfortable throughout, picking us up and dropping us off at the airport. He always sought our feedback on how to improve the service they provided, asking about the guides, the hotels, the drivers, etc. If you have a problem (which we didn’t) let them know right away and they will fix it for you. We had a wonderful rejuvenating trip to Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet full of happy memories and experiences. We could not have done it without the guidance, help, and planning we received from Keshav and Himalayan Mentors. Our sincerest thanks!

It couldn't have been easy organizing for various activities by combing as a package trip. Keshav Kadel from Himalayan Mentor is very professional and always dedicated to planning the trip and I liked very much from his never say no attitude. We started to book the trip from Kathmandu sightseeing but ended up with Nagarkot hiking and Chitwan Jungle Safari trip too. Even some of the heritages sites are yet to reconstruction after the earthquake, we enjoyed the sightseeing trip very much. The sightseeing guide and hiking guide both were very cheerful and knowledgeable. We enjoy the shopping around the city as well. The view from Nagarkot was amazing. We book overland trip for Chitwan but the road is not in good condition, there is road expansion work and we struck on traffic for around an hour. We enjoyed the wildlife safari activities in Chitwan as well. Personally, I highly recommend to Himalayan Mentor as they offer very reasonable price for such services. Keshav was always keeping in touch with us by phone and always concern about the services and he made the wonderful trip for us. Hope to see you all again at our next trip to Nepal!
